Was there one toy/present/thing you wanted as a kid and never got? What was it? Did you ever end up getting it? Was it as cool as you thought it would be??
I never had anything I desperately wanted, however, my older brother NEEDED an Easy Bake Oven. That's all he wanted for YEARS. YEARS! My dad wouldn't allow it, because that was a "girls toy." (At one point, my brother wanted a Pink and Pretty Barbie, but he knew he couldn't convince our dad of it, so he had me ask for it so he could play with it!) Anyway, I actually bought my brother an Easy Bake Oven, a few years ago and I thought he was going to pee himself with excitement.
And then he tried to make cookies...and turns out, it wasn't so cool!

i cannot think of anything i truly wanted that I didn't get at some point. there were some toys I wanted, but they were the "hot" item so sold out, but eventually if I still wanted it, i would get it. i didn't get everything I wanted... that would be crazy since like most kids I wanted everything i saw advertised, but if it was something that was not a whim and worked in our family budget, i eventually got it. One Christmas where I got all clothes stands out in my mind, but i had complainedvcthe previous year I got all toys and no clothes... so that was really my own doing lol
I wanted a telescope, but not just any telescope - a short tube reflector telescope with an equatorial mount (so, well outside of my parents budget at the time).
I ended up saving my chore money for years and buying it myself. It was absolutely as awesome as I thought it would be. I still have it, but I haven't had time to pull it out in years.
I wanted a baby sister soooooo badly when I was 5. I finally got her when I was six. The joy only lasted a short time because I tried to sell her to the neighbors when she was about 6 months old.

I can't think of anything I desperately wanted but never got. AG doll. It took years of begging but I finally got Samantha as a joint birthday/Christmas present. Also, a brown haired Ken doll. For some reason those were hard to come by one year? My grandmother colored a blond Ken brunette with a marker and the next year they found a brown haired Ken for me, lol.
There were things I wanted but never asked for because I knew there was no way in Hell I'd get it (Power Wheels being one of those things, lol).

Hot Wheels. I SO wanted the tracks with the loops! Instead, I had to make friends with other kids who owned them. I don't think it was a "boy toy" vs. "girl toy" thing, since I had plenty of "boy" Legos (aka, not pink, and you could actually build cool stuff with them), so I'm not sure why I never got them.

I always wanted a power jeep too neonpink! My mom told me it was too expensive and I said "that's OK mom, I'll just ask Santa for it!" I was a super smart child. I never got one.
Other funny story. Boyfriend had a little power Porsche when he was a kid. He would drive around the neighborhood and pick up cute girls. He'd drop one off back at home and then go pick up a different one.
I wanted a rock tumbler and a pottery wheel from the Brand Names catalog. I'm still pissed I didn't get them.
Omg one year I got a pottery wheel and my brother got a rock tumber. I think my Mom regretted it. The Rock tumbler was so noisy you could hear it all over the house and I needed help to use the pottery wheel and made a mess in the kitchen. That was the last year we got such needy/loud gifts from my parents.

I pretty much wanted every toy in the Sears Wishbook.
Other than that, I really just wanted my own room that I didn't have to share with anyone. I finally got one when I was 22 and moved into my own apartment.
