SO LOVES scotch, mostly single blends and he has a rather impressive collection. So as I have chosen where we go on vacation for the last few times, I threw doing a trip to Scotland into the mix and just meandering through Scotland, hitting whatever distilleries he would like to hit. This will likely happen late Aug or early Sept. 2015.
So has anyone done this?
I HATE having reservations anywhere. The last time I went to Scotland, we rented a car (pre-SO) and had a B&B book. We just drove from place to place to stay and visited where ever struck us as interesting. However, I did this back in 1993ish - long enough ago to know that this may not be possible today. The B&B book my friend got from a special site, where the B&Bs were vetted by the organization and this worked out very well for us. We would decide where we wanted to go, check out the map and look for B&Bs in the area and start making phone calls. We'd get a place, drive there and see what we wanted to see, crash for the night. Lather, rinse and repeat.
The friend I went with has since died, and I have no idea where she got the book or what organization it was from. Does anyone have any idea what organization does this, and have you used them?
