Yours are plywood right? So are you adding treads? Do you add risers too? What are the rest of your floors, and if hardwood, how do you get them to match? Sorry for all the questions ha, I have hardwood and feel it would be a PITA to match on my own.
As far as I can tell, they're actually wood. I was wrong about the particle board, I was just taking a guess. They were painted white at some point.
Oh, nice! Do you just strip and stain to match the rest of your floor?
We used all of the same materials that they used including the stripper and stain color and it's going wonderfully. The stripper smelled like oranges, he didn't even have to open windows. The first coat of stain has to go down within 2 hours of the wood conditioner but we didn't have to wipe off after either one and we may only need a second coat of stain at this point, I hope to find out tonight (DH lost all of his project motivation lol)
We have a bird that I'm worried about using anything other than paint around. I don't want to kill her.
If we do stain, it will probably be in the summer so we can open up the windows.
Ah, good to know. Birds are very sensitive!
I never lost my bionic sense of smell from pregnancy and every scent bothers me (obv not like a bird, but lol) The stripper is Citristrip and that was fine for me, but the wood conditioner and stain do have a strong lingering odor. (And since we're awesome and choose the dead of winter to do this thing we can't really open windows. lol)
