My dh was just informed he needs to go to a conference in Miami early next month. The hotel they put him in is right on the water and is voted #2 in Miami on tripadvisor, so I said book me a ticket I want to come too! He was able to get me flights using miles and we don't have to pay for hotel. So, what should I do??
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
January is hit or miss for the weather being hot in Miami. I have found that evening if it is a chilly day, as long as the sun is out, you can sit by the pool if it is shielded from the wind. Enjoy!

I was in Miami Beach last month and the weather was so disappointing the entire time we were there (rain some of the weekend, gray skies/clouds the entire weekend, and extremely strong winds). Coming from the cold Northeast, it was not how I expected my first trip to Miami to be But yeah, it definitely seems hit or miss.
Are you a foodie at all? One of the activities we did was a food tour right in South Beach (the company also offers tours in Little Havana and Wynwood). I would highly recommend it as it was probably the best food tour I ever did. And unlike some I've been on where the tastings are more like samplings, these were really generous. The tour lasted about 2.5 hours.
Here's a blog post for more info. The Art Deco district is also really great-either to do the walking tour or just wander at your own pace. Otherwise, yes, just have the mojitos coming!
