I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of our little girl's nursery. I wanted to keep the wall color because I had a hard time finding a neutral, light green that worked with the cherry trim. I started with the rug and based the colors of the room around it.
Now for some details.
The chair was the big splurge in the room. It is Best Blain that we special ordered from BBB. It swivels, glides, and reclines. I love it and so does everyone who sits in it!
I designed this butterfly wing kaleidoscope print in Photoshop and had it printed on poster board at Costco for $4. It was inspired by a piece I found years ago.
These prints on plywood were a shower present.
I asked my mom to sew this awesome quilt. I ordered/collected a bunch of solid color fabric samples and matched them to the rug. We cut them out and determined the pattern together.
My dad made this bookcase to fit under the window and still allow for air movement from the register behind it (it even has offset back legs so it won't hit the tall baseboards we made). It's made of formica so it's super durable and heavy. The tapered legs were tricky to make.
Pillows made by my mom and pink fox blabla doll.
My sister and I made this mobile. We cheated though and ordered the knit bees off etsy. : ) C loves the contrast and will immediately stop crying when she sees them moving around.
Adjustable crib skirt with box pleat also made by my mom.
I wanted to hang my favorite photo of my grandma as a girl (the one with the teddy bear) and decided to collect photos of female relatives from both sides of the family.
Ikea shelves that we ordered extra long and deep so we could cut them down to hit the studs. I spray painted the silver brackets brass to go with the other accents in the room.
The dresser was a CL find (as well as the crib). It was in really rough shape when we saw it in person though. DH decided to completely revamp it and spent 4 months doing just that. Half of the drawers had broken dovetail joints so completely new non-dovetail drawer boxes had to be built. He added metal ball bearing slides, resquared all of the drawers, build a new back panel, stripped off the old paint, used wood filler to fill in the missing pieces of veneer, sanded, primed, and painted. There used to be a raised detail on each drawer around the handle but big pieces of it was missing so DH chiseled it off. He built a new solid cherry top and cut it to match the scallop front shape. Now it's an amazing piece we'll have for a long time!
DH added a light to the center of the room. I love this scalloped shape (ETA: putting this post together I just realized this matches the mirror perfectly). I ordered the white shade and spray painted the metal piece brass.
DH made this Pottery Barn inspired curtain rod out of copper pipe and a wall bracket he made. My mom sewed the curtains out of matching quilt fabric. We added a fun mini pom pom trim.
Beautiful! I love the rug and all the prints the most. You did a great job making it seem so cozy and personal. I didn't realize you had your little girl either....Congrats!!
Wow, I love the pop of color with the curtains and rug. Can you please source for me the rug and the mirror. I love it all. Congratulations!!!
Sure. The rug was from RugsUSA. Link. I got for $235 on a 70% off sale. It's really plush and soft. I'm really happy with it.
The mirror is Pottery Barn Kids. Their site doesn't seem to be working right now.
Yes working with all these bright colors was a challenge for me at first. After doing two very neutral bathrooms and master bedroom I was getting stuck on how to match all of the colors.

That's interesting! They must not carry it anymore because I just looked at their site. I searched everywhere for a mirror I liked for that spot. The sunburst mirrors I was originally looking at were too big to be at a reasonable eye height and fit over the tall back of the crib. And the small round mirrors I was finding were just blah. I kept going back to the PBK one. I figure it would work in multiple places around our house if she decides she doesn't like it in the future.
