In Asheville last week I stalked all our old sites/houses, etc.
I didn't get a good pic of the house our friends built (remember we were going to buy half the lot). But I'll share when they publish it. It's modern and really nice.
I just did a blog post on our old lot and that other old house we tried to buy. The house on the lot is going to be pretty awful. It doesn't engage the street, the window placement makes me twitchy, and the rooflines are overly complicated IMO. A friend of a friend designed it though, so I don't want to talk too much crap.
Here's the whole post (I have no ads on my site or anything, I just am too lazy to retype and repost all the images here).

I also did some internet sleuthing, and the people that bought our house DO NOT live in it. Ugh. That makes me so sad. They bought a house about 1/2 mile away. Our house sits empty.
Aw, hopefully someone moves into your house soon. It would make me sad too! It will be interesting to see the house that's being built. Repost pics when it's all finished
I thought this was going to be about the lot you were trying to buy where you are now. Are you guys still trying to get that one?
Oh, thank goodness it is not that. I'd cry.
We are still waiting. We are really hoping since the City emerged from bankruptcy last week things will start to move forward. We just keep hearing "soon". For 2 months now. GRRRRR
We have started looking elsewhere too. My DH is trying to talk me into a house near the water and a park, but not walkable to anything else. Thing is, it is SO cheap. But I want to stick to my guns and remember what we really want.
ETA: I JUST got an email with good news! One of the lots we are trying to buy is actually an old tiny park in the middle of the block. It was controlled by the City's Parks & Rec, but they just gave control of it to the City (who owns the other lot), so we can buy both together. Real, actual progress!! YES!
