Tomorrow I am taking out my graduating student assistants for tacos and beer. I am so excited and sad. I've been mentoring one of the students for 4 years, and she has done such good work and come SO FAR.
I'm so proud of her, but sad for me that I can't continue to exploit her awesome skill set under the guise of teaching. Plus she's a lot of fun. :wipes away the solitary tear falling::
It's my intern's last day too. I'm very certain she's much smarter than I am and I want to lock her in a closet and never let her leave! I also got her nothing as a parting gift. Didn't take her to lunch either. I guess I'm a jerk.
I was approached today about taking a new job with a different organization in my community. The position isn't vacant right now... If you're picking up what I'm laying down. I'm so excited! And terrified! And... Lean In, etc, right?

That's amazing! Don't be scared, this is a great opportunity to make a change I know you've been wanting for a long time! Congrats!
I am stupidly excited that I am going to watch "Love, Actually" tonight. My BF hates that movie more than most other movies, and sadly it's one of my favorites. I was considering making him deal with it and putting it on this weekend, but he won't be home until after 8 tonight so I realized I can watch it without annoying him!
The problem with a small house and our schedules is that I am almost never there when he's not, and if we're there we are in the same room. 99% of the time that's a positive thing, but it sucks when someone really doesn't want to do something the other person wants to do.

My rent is going up 23%. I have to move. Luckily I have until August.
WHAT? Why?
They are saying they gave me a special offer when I moved in almost two years ago and they need to get it back to market value. I can see an increase, but not that much of one!

Yeah, that's just nuts. Sorry though. I hate moving.
Sadness... Just found out that the company merger means I am going back to part time hours.
The problem being - I have more than full time hours of work that needs doing, much of it on a timeline that can't be pushed out.
And there is still a desire to hire someone who doesn't telework to take over what my role really ought to be. (at full time hours, which may end up reducing my hours more if it ever happens) Apparently the new head of the company doesn't really understand telework, and considers it a very negative thing.
Maybe it is time to investigate this whole linked in thing. Might help me find some leads if I need to find new employment in the new year.

My cw makes me want to bang my head against the wall.
Her take on a use it or lose it budget is vastly differently an mine, and it's pissing me off. You don't get a prize here for a large surplus. You lose the damn money
My dad-jeans and gym shoes-wearing husband just texted me that he bought dark jeans and brown shoes. I asked him who he was sleeping with. Turns out the team he is interviewing with tomorrow dresses more fashionably than his current one and he thought he should give it a shot. Now the brown shoes are not in the top 50 I would have picked if given the choice, but I am so excited that the man now has another pair of shoes. AND nice jeans! After eight years of marriage, I had given up all hope.

Yesterday the bank got back to us about our condo offer only to point out a few technicalities in the contract. We corrected it and sent it back, so still we wait.

Not legal advice, but you might want to check your state's laws. Some states have a percentage limit on how much landlords can raise rent.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this "special offer" wasn't mentored in writing anywhere on your lease?
