I don't get the whole Amazon thing... maybe you all can help me. A lot of the items I would buy (Cat food, litter, cleaning supplies, cd's, etc) all seem to be MORE expensive on Amazon than at Target or Walmart- plus if I buy it in the store I can use coupons! Do you find that you save MONEY using Amazon- or is it just the TIME factor?
It's like 98% time and hassle factor for me. I have regularly spent more on stuff through Amazon in order to 1. Be able to make a purchase the second it pops into my head, without having to plan/add a to-do/etc. and 2. Have it show up on my doorstep without me having to go anywhere. And no kids here, just a very demanding job that means I need my weekends to rest and my brain to be clear of as many random to-do items as possible.

We finally broke down and got it. DH thinks we've been doing too much "adding on" to whatever we had planned to buy to get up to the new $35 free shipping limit, that the $99/year for prime will be worth it.
I don't get the Amazon love either. We have a Target and a grocery store within walking distance of our home so walking across the street to grab something I need whenever I need it seems like much less of a hassle than ordering online and waiting for it it arrive in a few days. And just on principle, I hated that I had to create an account in order to buy anything there. I've purchased one item there in my life (because it was the only place my friend registered for her baby shower). NOT being a frequent Amazon shopper shouldn't be such a PITA - it's the only place I've ever seen where "check out as guest" isn't an option.

I think some folks do save money doing this, even if the individual items are more on Amazon. Some folks have a tough time setting foot in Target/Walmart/Pet Store/wherever, without buying a bunch of random impulse purchases. Ordering online can help avoid doing that for some folks.
I definitely save money on some things, like electronics, esp things like phone cords, HDMI cables, etc. It's competitive for diapers/wipes, if you need them.
It's really a time thing for me. Even if I was child free I don't want to spend time doing errands instead of something else.
As for the boxes, I re-use them as my donation boxes.
Online shopping and free, fast shipping are the greatest things about America. Zappo's is like crack to me when I'm home - I can buy a million things, they arrive in 1 business day, and then I send back whatever I don't like without any cost or hassle on my part. GOD BLESS AMERICA, you people don't know how good you've got it!
Liking this post was not enough...I need to add a big HELL YES!!!!
I honestly don't understand why people still subject themselves to shopping in malls, especially at Christmas. My friends spent all day Saturday at the mall and were flustered. Everything they bought could have been found on Amazon.
I am mortified to not understand the whole Prime thing. (ducks head in shame)
So, besides shopping, is there other stuff? I don't shop a ton, I mean I get stuff, but really I only go to a few places. The mall terrifies me. LOL!
ETA: I do have a kindle, and love buying books from them.
I use prime to randomly purchase things I need as they come up. I haven't jumped on the whole toilet paper bandwagon yet but here are a few of the things I have purchased in the past few months:
-eyelash curler -lots and lots of gifts -joint supplement for my dog -orthotics -scrubs for work -speedo and swim cap -water bottles -bike rack -phone accessories
Basically, when I'm sitting at home in the evening and realize I need to buy something, I will probably check out amazon.

I got my nephew bubble wrap for his birthday. My dad (who is exceptionally even keeled on most days) was pissed that I had it shipped to their house. It would not click in his head that I could have bubble wrap shipped for free.
