Today the chair of our board asked me to buy all school employees except myself and the head of school $100 gift certificates. She said instead she would take us to lunch (yippee, more punishment than gift). I need to buy 23 certificates to a store. She does not want Amex or Visa. I'm thinking Target is probably the best bet, but would love other ideas. Staff ranges from 22-79.
I thought about Amazon but the librarian does not do anything online. Maybe I just get her something different. Yes, I know this makes no sense since she is the librarian.

I'd keep them all the same. Just makes it easier - no favoritism, no she got something different. Go with Target - I think generically useful.
I chose Amazon for our work gift cards. (Not for holidays, but for monthly "thanks for being awesome" recognition recipients, but same goal re: universal appeal.)
I actually never go to Target. Maybe I would if one was convenient?

I think either Target or Amazon is just fine! Though, to be perfectly honest, if you hadn't mentioned the librarian, I would lean towards Amazon- $100 is enough that maybe it could contribute to a larger purchase that someone was waiting to make.
I ended up buying Amazon because they had them at the drugstore and I was already there, plus more options for buyer. I can help librarian make her purchase.

Side-eyeing the chair's idea to take you and the other person to lunch instead of getting a $100 gift card. I hope you two still get the gift card on top of lunch.
