My female lab/shepard mix is not putting weight on her right hind leg. I brought her in and looked at her paw/leg. She doesn't whine when I manipulate her paw/leg and she has no blood or lick marks that I can see. Any suggestions?

How long has this been happening? Sadie walks around like that sometimes and then a few minutes later, she's fine. I'd see if you can get her to put weight on it and see how she reacts. For us, Sadie will jump for a treat and if she's not feeling well, she won't. Or throw a ball for her, and see if she'll go retrieve it.

I'd see if it resolves itself as maybe she just pulled something. If it doesn't get better I'd take her in. Tucker has torn both of his ACLs and we noticed because he wouldn't really bear weight on that leg. One we repaired when he was 7, and one we didn't since he was 12.
If its been like this for more than a few days I'd take her in.
Signed, The worry wart who asked h if Betty needed braces.
You crack me up.
I'm with UW. I'm a huge worry wart when it comes to our dogs. Thank goodness we have the wellness plan through Banfield. If it's been a few days, definitely take her in.
Also I'd start putting her on a food with glucosomine. That helps a lot.

Poor pups. We've used the Trader Joe's Glucosamine/Chondroitin for Dogs. I think they also sell it at Costco?
You could also talk to your vet about pain meds. Our dogs are on Novox, which is similar to Rimadyl and really helps with their joint pain. It can be tough on their kidneys though so they have to get blood tests a few times a year.
