I decided not to do GCs this year and we got each of their teachers a brownie mix in a jar. I don't know what to do for them outside of GCs and am second guessing myself. You would like that if you were a teacher, right?
Okay CNA I love you, but honestly as a teacher I appreciate any gift given but I would not use that. In fact it would probably get dumped. I know that sounds horrible but the stuff in a jar eeks me out I always see it at ross, marshals etc and wonder how many stores it we through before it got there and how old it is.
Ok I'm awake. I still say yes, but I'd also say if you spent even $5 on it, a $5 gc isn't a bad gift. I see a $5 gc and think "a cup of coffee! yay!". Just a thought. Honestly though, if she doesn't like it, can't use it, whatever, she can totally regift it and even then I'd be happy to have one less thing I needed to shop for

This is the philosophy I follow. Whatever you spent even $5 would always be appreciated in a GC. And honestly the best gift is always a heartfelt thank you letter.

I just did fancy chocolate bars. It's been a rough week. I think the brownie mix is fine. My mom used to give "cheap mugs with candy in them " so you are doing better than that lol.
A mom I know made the teachers meals. Dhe showed up with lasagna and salad. What say you???
Seriously? No. That would go straight in the trash.
I read about something like this on a blog. It seemed like it was the culture at that school to do that. Perhaps that makes it ok? Our PTA brings dinner at conferences one night and while it's good, I'm always a little 'eh' about eating it.
I probably wouldn't use it. Ow ever one of my coworkers husbands is a minister so she always took any unwanted or not needed gifts and used them at the church.

The working mom board always suggests bringing food for group teacher gifts (like the your kid is at a center where multiple people are involved in their care). So I was going to buy muffins and pre-sliced fruit for Monday.

Store bought is fine. I used to do a tray from a local deli.
My mom used to come home with tray after tray of cookies and would throw most of them away, depending on who gave them to her. I always felt badly that they were pitched, but...yeah.
My mom has been a teacher over 30 years. She always let me pick through the ton of bath and body works type stuff then she'd donate the rest.
She'd pitch almost all homemade goodies (a few houses she trusted haha!) and she'd lovingly look at each and every apple ornament...put it on her tree, take a picture, then in the trash it went.
