Way off topic, but I hated Stephen King's recent book Revival. Horrible horrible. I can't think of anything he has written that I didn't at least really enjoy, or completely love. This was awful.

That makes me sad. I was looking forward to reading it. You must not have read The Cell though. Awful, terrible. It was The Stand, but with cell phones.
I get it. Shitty gift. Whatever. I will make up for it on one of the other eleventy billion gift giving opportunities. I am not in the right kind 9f mood to hash and rehash my poor gift giving, so I will come back later.

A woman at preschool today presented the teacher with a hand knitted hat. Good or bad? I get major present giving anxiety. But as long as someone tried, then it's the thought that counts. I'm looking at you sil who thought I'd enjoy a xxl m and m bathrobe.

Bad, I guess, because I just don't get it. $5 gift card. be done.
I always think, what if everyone gave a hat? Or a candle? Or apparently a damn lasagna?

You know it has to be really bad if I didn't like it. I even enjoyed Cell. I've read pretty much everything from the guy. This one started with a good story idea and I was really into it. I couldn't wait to figure it out, then I felt very much like WTF was that?! It veered off into crazyland and not in a good way. There was so much else he could have done with the story. So sad.

Handknits for someone you don't know well? Bad. And I say that as a knitter. It takes so much time, cost, and energy to knit something and it's a real gamble whether or not the recipient will like and wear it. I've been burned too many times - I only knit gifts for a select few now.
Like m & m candies? That sounds awful.
My MIL got me a bra one year...and insisted I open it Christmas morning and show it off to everyone, FIL and BIL included. Awkward. And I don't want to know what she was thinking when she picked out that bad boy.
UO: I am over buying gifts for adult family members. A total of five siblings and two sets of parents, all of whom (except one SIL) are perfectly capable (and prefer) to just buy the things they want when they want them, and I am over it. I'm campaigning for drawing names next year.

Bummer jensriot! I love King too, guess I will skip that one.
The Cell was pretty bad. Totally remember reading that and thinking wtf but I let it slide.
Salads in jars. I just don't get those. See them on Pinterest all the time and it just looks incredibly awkward, like how do you eat it. I feel like I would get salad everywhere. My UO is I am over mason jar everything. Agree they are cute for wedding stuff and decor stuff but a damn salad?! I also see overnight oats in the jars and wonder if they're even good.
ETA I like mason jars for brownie/cake/hot cocoa mixes, that's cute. And I think cna's gift was totally cute and fine

Yes, like the m and m candies. It was white with giant m and ms all over. I sold it for $3 at a yard sale. We suspect my SIL of regifting without much thought.
I realize that. I thought the latte would make me understand people's obsession...nope. Their coffees and speciality drinks are both gross.
I love dark strong coffee so I love their coffee. I think if you are used to drinking a medium blend then you won't like them. DH can't stand Starbucks

I am sorry you asked for opinions in your post so we gave them. I never meant to hurt your feelings really I apologize.
I hate the thought that teachers should just he appreciative of any type of crap they receive. I also can't understand why anyone in their right mind thinks teachers want an apple ornament with #1 teacher on it.
I would rather have a FREE handwritten thank you note than some stupid crayon wreath with my name anyday.
This is what I got from one of my church school kids last night. I want to regift, throw it out, donate it. Gah!

There are darker coffees I like but there's something about Starbucks that doesn't do it for me.

Uh oh. I got it for my mom. It's what she asked for....
I think people who sign their pet's names on their Christmas cards are bizarre. Based on the number of cards I get (pre-printed and handwritten) that are signed by animals, this is apparently unpopular.
I think Starbucks coffee is gross. I got an eggnog latte there the other day thinking I'd like it because I love egg nog....nope.
I'm with you. I don't like Starbucks at all and I LOVE coffee, especially the dark and strong brews. I haven't been in one in years. I like my homemade coffee with high quality beans so much more than Starbucks.

Aw hell, I meant to quote Kimbus' post about having your pets sign Christmas cards...
Anyways, our two dogs' names were totally part of the sign-off on our Christmas cards this year. But we're annoying dog people. I even addressed cards to families AND their pets.

I am the extra weirdo who likes the Starbucks beans brewed at home but hates their coffee in the store. I'll get a vanilla latte sometimes but I'd rather have better coffee. I recall the PSL was tasty when it came out but I got one this year and it tasted like melted frosting it was so sweet.
My UO. Fudge is nasty. It ruins chocolate and that's hard to do.
Traditional ones? There are a million kinds. Do you just not like hard candy? Or is it the shape? I'm confused.
Yeah just the traditional ones, the red/white/green ones. I tried some sweet tart candy canes that rocked and I like hard candy. Just those mint candy canes, blech!

This is hilarious. I'd love to give this to my sil....ahhhhh especially in a few sizes too big. Passive aggressiveness at it's finest.
This is awesome.
If I cared enough about SIL to have her address... I'd do the same.
