Thanks for the insight. That has bothered me since I first started listening... I also can't imagine driving around all night in an ice storm.. at least not in Wisconsin.

I can't picture driving around (stoned!) in an ice storm here either TBH, people in Baltimore don't know how to drive in any winter weather. Plus you'd think Adnan's over protective parents would be calling him to come home already. Maybe it didn't really start storming until later? There is a post on the Serial website saying that maybe it wasn't a storm that night and Asia actually saw him the week before the murder.
No way. Jay pled guilty to a felony, and while he didn't go to prison, he very easily could have. You don't do that unless you are directly involved and the plea deal is better than your other options.
Lurker here, but it's not exactly true that people don't plead guilty to a felony unless directly involved. There are NUMEROUS cases in the history of wrongful convictions - one is the Ryan Ferguson case - in which a defendant/co-defendant confesses to a crime and/or takes a deal when the evidence has unequivocally shown that he/she was not involved. I think it was made totally clear that Jay was a weirdo. The whole notion that Jay would do/say something because "NO ONE WOULD UNLESS..." does not fly.
Well, of course people plead out when they aren't guilty, but usually they've already been implicated or charged. I was responding to the poster I quoted, who suggested that Hae was killed by a random serial killer and that Jay's involvement was limited to seeing her car when he decided to implicate himself and Adnon. I find that scenario extremely unlikely, your example notwithstanding.

There are a few things I read online that I found interesting about this case:
1. GOMI (I know, I know) has a thread in the Conspiracies forum related to this case, and apparently, someone dug up Jay's last name and looked into his criminal history. Here's a similar recap from Reddit--this just seems weird, even if it has nothing to do with the Lee case: www.reddit.com/r/serialpodcast/comments/2pt3wd/jay_is_that_lucky_or_something/
2. This blog (written by an attorney) does a really fantastic job (IMO) of breaking down all of the specifics, particularly b/c I find a lot of the commentary on the subReddit a little overwhelming. I think this was one of my favorite posts of hers:

I have no clue what to think.
The whole thing sounds odd. I really don't think any of the theories make sense.
Adnan bugged me, though. Something about his tone....it seemed indifferent? I don't know. It could just be a defense mechanism in response to over a decade of people not believing him. But every time Sarah spoke I started to believe he didn't do it....but then when Adnan spoke I thought he was guilty.

I agree wholeheartedly about Adnan's tone. I'd be on his side and then he would start talking and then I'd start changing my mind for the 900th time.
