I tend to be fairly laid back about the minor illness stuff-congestion, coughs, etc. But Influenza A? Even though AJ's had his flu shot, I wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn't go. And I wouldn't feel bad about it either. It was good of SIL to give you a heads up, though. Can you imagine the shit show if you had just shown up without this knowledge, and then at the gtg someone brought it up?! Or am I the only one who would be livid?? (I get that I'm uptight lol)
No. Flu isn't something I would risk. Esepically since the current vaccine seems to not be protecting against all strains this year. So even though we all received our flu shots I just wouldn't risk it.
Did the people in the house that did get sick get the flu shot, or was the husband the only one that got the shot and didn't get sick? Did you and your son get the flu shot? Have they mentioned how they're cleaning everything in the house to make sure no one gets it?
I'm pretty sure only the husband got the flu shot. I have my flu shot, and B got one - his pediatrician recommended two, but we were lazy and never made it back for the second round. Since he stays home, I didn't make it a huge priority. My H hasn't had one. If it weren't in their house I might not be quite as nervous - but they've been rolling around that place sick all week long. Not enough Lysol.
Try to get that second shot in when you can otherwise he will have to have 2 shots again next year.
