100% not important at all for me. I believe in buying equipment for it's intended purpose not for multiple purposes. A few of the bigger name car scene photographers also do video work with their DSLR's as well but they are working with professional full camera bodies.
I don't even like using mine for pictures anymore.
Why?
My thought is that now that my kids are older- I do not have to carry around a diaper bag and push a stroller- a camera would be small potatoes. Is this misguided?

It's so heavy and bulky, plus I've never committed to figuring out how to use the manual settings, and the exposure is always better on my iPhone. Plus I rarely print any photos that I take, and iPhone is fine for facebook. The only think I love about my dslr is how quickly you can take pics.
eta: Sometimes I will take pics of the same set-up w/ my dslr using the auto settings and my iPhone, and the better pic (for facebook or other internet use) is from the iPhone 98% of the time.
If you hold down the photo taking button on your iPhone it will take rapid fire photos like the dslr, if that's what you're talking about.

Guess I'm the lone dissenting voice here, but I use the video on my DSLR quite a bit. I like being able to quickly switch between snapping portraits and taking video of DD if she happens to start doing something video-worthy
