We all went out to dinner for my Mom's 80th birthday and the restaurant we went to had a mariachi band. My Dad is an amazing singer and he got up and sang a song called "Mi Linda Esposa" which means "My Beautiful Wife" and Mom started tearing up and dabbing her eyes with her little hankie, which in turn made me and my sisters get teary, and then a little old lady at the table next to us got out her little hankie and started dabbing her eyes too.
I told her that it was Mom's birthday and that my parents have been married for almost 55 years. The little old lady said that she lost her husband earlier this year after 58 years of marriage and this was her first Christmas without him in almost 60 years.
::::bawling::::
So, DH picked up the check for the little old lady's table and said "Merry Christmas" and she hugged him and gave him a smooch.
I don't even know where to post an intro here! I was on TK/TN/TB since 2003, mostly local boards. I was m_and_m.
"I speak without reservation from what I know and who I am. I do so with the understanding that all people should have the right to offer their voice to the chorus whether the result is harmony or dissonance. The worldsong is a colorless dirge without the differences that distinguish us, and it is that difference that should be celebrated not condemned." -Ani Difranco
I guess wisdom does come with age because my mom and the other lady were dabbing at their eyes with these hankies, looking all delicate and lady-like, meanwhile my sisters and I were scrubbing our eyes with paper napkins that advertised 2 for 1 drink specials.
