My dh travels a TON and spends many hours each week on an airplane. His fav way to pass the time is to watch movies or shows on his ipad. What is the best MM way to do this? He often visits the apple store and gets the $0.99 movie of the week, but lets be honest, they're usually not that great. Is there a monthly subscription that I could get him so he could download movies. Netflix doesn't work bc it's all streaming, right? Sometimes his flights will have free wifi but that cannot always be counted on. Thanks!

Hmm, I have noticed that more and more flights have wi-fi available, which you have to pay for, but is free for frequent flyers. If your H travels alot, he should try to get status on some of the airlines so he has that option.
I'm not sure about a monthly subscription- I have one for audiobooks but not sure about movies.
I like to rent shows or movies from amazon so that I can download them. I don't know if that is any cheaper than iTunes. Most subscription type services would be streaming I would think. Blockbuster used to have an app with credits for free downloads, but I assume that isn't functioning anymore.

Yeah, you can't stream movies over wifi on planes. I was going to suggest iTunes - their rentals are downloadable and they're only a few dollars. All the subscription services I know about are streaming.
Well shoot- that would work just fine. Except we don't have kindles/Fires :/ Thanks for the info!
I think you can download them onto your tablet (iPad?) if you have the amazon video viewer app. I have that on my iPhone and it let me download episodes of breaking bad to watch on a plane. They were just SO tiny on the iPhone.
