I didn't know until right now, but it's the day that the Louvre opened as a public museum (1793)---the one-year anniversary of the "demise" of the French monarchy, with the king's arrest. Also the day that the Smithsonian Institution was chartered (1846). I am a museum person, so this makes me happy.
I was also born on my brother-in-law's birthday, which means my inlaws will never forget it.
My sister was born the day Mount St. Helens erupted.
I share a birthday with Thurgood Marshall, Dave Thomas, Johnny Weir (awesome!), Imelda Marcos and Lindsay Lohan (both not so awesome) Amelia Earhart disappeared LBJ signs the Civil Rights Act The first Wal-Mart store opened

Birthdays: Christina Applegate, Joe DiMaggio, JFK Jr, Bruno Tonioli, Andrew Carnegie, Ben Stein, Amy Grant, Jenna & Barbara Bush.
It was also the day the King Fahd Causeway officially opened up in the Persian Gulf. This is pretty cool, because I lived in Bahrain for 6 years. The causeway connects Bahrain and Saudi.
Mine isn't special in that sense, but it's dec 27th and I know my gifts were pulled from the Christmas stash. wrapping my bday gifts in Christmas paper is a huge no no because I already have to share with Christmas.
