I just finished David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks. Still not sure how I felt about it, but I needed some less heavy (literally -- that book is thick in hardback) reading afterward, so I'm on a fluffy mystery, The Dark Enquiry by Deanna Raybourn.
Favorite: I love presents: choosing, wrapping, giving, receiving. Least favorite: traffic and travel, even though we don't have too long to drive.
I've been scattered with reading this month and I can't focus on anything:( I'm hoping to finish 2 more books to hit my goal but oh well if not.
QOTW: I love watching how excited my kids get about Christmas but the holidays get me kind of depressed for a few different reasons. I'm counting the days until vacation next week:)

Do you like the Deanna Raybourn mystries? I keep thinking I should pick one up.
I'm still working on the Dark Tower, I'm about 3/4 of the way through Wizard and Glass and I expect I'll finish it this weekend. I think I'm going to start on The Wind Through the Keyhole next, and then read Wolves of the Calla, based on the comments from aurora and MrsAxilla and me looking into it more on the Stephen King website.
I'm completely engrossed with the 4th book right now. I've been reading way into the night (longer than I should be!) and I keep getting annoyed at my H because he tries to talk to me while I'm reading and I have withdraw from the world and have him repeat himself.
QOTW: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of this holiday season?
Favorite - eggnog! I've consumed at least a gallon of it so far.
Least Favorite - my mom being a pain in the ass about us visiting, which we aren't doing this year and she's known that since July because didn't give up her campaigning for us to come until the beginning of December.

It's been a rough week, so I haven't picked up where I left off in The Fiery Cross. I have a John Green holiday book that I may use to cheer me up.
I like shopping, wrapping presents, eating cookies, and looking at lights. I dislike having so much to do... not the activities themselves, but coordinating and balancing them all.

I also found Wizard and Glass to be more captivating than the rest (not that they were bad). But I've actually never read The Wind through the Keyhole; I need to pick that one up!
I'm reading Fall of Hyperion right now. It's good but I'm having distraction problems (just due to life) so I kinda just want to pick up Harry Potter and come back to it later.

They are fun. Definitely nothing that requires too much brain power, and the main character is weirdly feisty and helpless all at once, but I do enjoy them.
I finished Mr. Mercedes last night - I had no idea it was a trilogy. Today I've started Rivival (also King). DH bought it for me for hanukkah. He had to hack into my Amazon account to download it to my kindle app.

currently reading: Me Before You jojo moyes I am about 75% its a cute light read. I am enjoying it, not knocking my socks off at the moment but I really enjoy it!
I'm reading Cyndi Lauper's memoir. Fascinating but not something I pick up other than at bedtime so it's taking awhile.
I love the lights, lights on houses, lights on the tree in a dark room. I dislike the commercialization of things, commercials that make you feel guilty for not buying a piece of jewelry, etc.
I like most of the Christmas stuff. Decorating, lights, all the fun kid stuff. I hate spending so much money! We did an okay job with budgeting this year, but it's still a significant amount of money in my eyes.
I'm still rereading HP#7. I have a huge stack of books to get to so hopefully I get a bunch read this week.
QOTW: Favorite would have to be Christmas eve. DH and I usually watch a movie and eat snacks/candy and drink cocoa and watch movies with the tree on. All we need is a fireplace. Least favorite is the crazy traffic and shopping crowds.

Still reading Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. It's enjoyable, and I love the sheep, but I find I am having trouble settling into it for any great period of time. It might be the holiday season or the shitton of stuff I still have to do before I go on vacation for a month.
QOTW: Favorite -- I love Christmas decorations and carols. In fact, right now, I can hear the choir singing at the annual Caroling in the Park festival about 4 blocks from my house. And I love that religious carols are played publicly here. Least Favorite -- honestly, the commercialism, and specifically the pressure to find THE PERECT gift. My mother decided a few years ago that we would stop giving each other presents and instead would take the money and go out for a really, really fancy dinner as the holiday celebration. It was great for our family and I love not having to find a gift for anyone (we're all adults, and none of my siblings have kids, so it's not like we're not giving gifts to children). I really wish I could get my in-laws on board with the plan, because the pressure to find THE PERFECT gift for them is more than I want to deal with. /rant
I'm not reading anything fun, but I'm currently in the process of reading What to Expect When You Are Expecting, The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, Childproofing Your Dog, and Husband Coached Childbirth. With all this and the holidays, I'm pretty much done with reading novels, which makes me sad.
QOTW: Favorite part of this holiday season is decorating our house and tree. I love the finished product- it just makes me so happy to look at. Least favorite part is having so many places to go/people to see. It's exhausting, even when I'm not pregnant. This year we "only" have 5 gatherings (we can't make the other 2 due to me working). Ugh.
I am reading Imago, 3rd in a series, by Octavia Butler. I have enjoyed the series so far and expect to like it. I am planning a library trip today for more books. I hope to have lots time over the holidays to read.
favorite: indulgent food, time with friends & family, pretty decorations. least: crowds of people, others expectations (and letting them down)
