Pillsbury canned frosting.... with a best by date of 2008. Yikes. It's vanilla and I typically put chocolate frosting on cakes, so this one has been sitting in the pantry for quite awhile. Oops.
I'm making a yellow cake, so I'm just going to buy chocolate frosting anyways I did open the can of vanilla frosting and tasted it out of curiosity. It's tooooootally fine.
This is one of those things that I might eat, but would never ever serve to others.
I am making an assumption that others will be eating the cake, so new frosting is the way to go.
And if not, KOKO lol
hahahaha. very much agreed! It's for my husband's birthday, but it's just the two of us at home this weekend. He might bring leftovers into work, so new frosting will definitely be used.

I am usually a disregarder of expiration dates on canned goods, but 6 years expired would probably weird me out and I would toss it, given that it's vanilla. If it was chocolate, I'd take my chances.
