I figure it will go to before/after care, activities, college fund and hopefully some wiggle room in the budget. I figure it will feel huge in the beginning and then fade away like the others have said.
I hate to tell you but kids get more expensive. Our "daycare money" now goes to after school and summer and break care, piano lessons, ski lessons, and more expensive (ie bigger) kid clothes.

sadly, I don't think kids get cheaper, private school? after school care? summer camps, sports, extracurricular. I don't think we will be rolling in money at all!
We pay more than $2k/month currently. I'm sure that will increase some (but not much) with hypothetical #2. Unless both of our jobs change dramatically, we won't need afterschool care, and unless we move, we won't need private school. I expect that will be a huge change in our bottom line once both are in preschool and beyond, I don't care what kind of activities they get involved in.
Honestly, it hasn't really been a big windfall. DD started kindergarten this year so we are finally done with full time daycare for good. We still have after school care we have to pay every month. We also pay back up care for all the days they are off school and we don't have off of work. Their activities and other commitments cost more money now. It's kind of been a wash.

I'm hoping to avoid aftercare by changing/flexing my schedule, but I know that at least SOME of it will go to a second car payment and summer or after school activities.
I'm just hoping that one or both of us have made it up high enough in our companies that we'll have some additional income to allow for more savings and fun stuff.
Well, before- and after school care and activities have proven to be nearly as expensive thus far. Otherwise, investments and college savings. We are used to living at the current level of income/ payments, so we'll just shuttle that money elsewhere most likely.
We only pay for parttime daycare (500/mo) but we are looking at either a 13K or a 21k depending on which private school we choose. And then college. It's never going to end!
Well sadly, after school care seems to be 650ish a month. We pay 1270 for DC now so it’s “only” $600. I totes thought it would be $1k+ more a month in savings!
We’ll prob save it for ourselves or live a little more fun with the extra money lol.

WHAT?
I pay less than $90. That is nuts.
$90 is a steal for after school for a month (assuming you need ~3 hours per day * ~24 days a month you're only paying about 1.25 per hour. We pay $550 a month so it works out to be about $7.60 an hour give or take.

I am our current daycare provider, so we will have a significant gain in income when that situation ends in August, even when you consider the money I will have to start paying for childcare (I am trying to see the positives, because change always freaks me out).
To answer the question: We will start saving for a down payment on a bigger house/ or renovation money. We will up our retirement amounts. I will need a new work wardrobe.
Our Y for before and after is $24 a day. A holiday or half day is $38. The school program is $19 a day for before and after but a little too Lord of the Flies for my taste.

Activities Music lessons are expensive!
ETA: And afterschool care + summer camp eats most of it. So the only thing that will go away a year from january is DD3's $$$$$ full day 5-days a week preschool. (I may get myself an advent calendar to count down to that momentous occasion.
I dream about this!! Really I dream about when they make it to 1st grade and we only pay before and after school care and the summers....still way cheaper than what we spend now. It will go towards college and activities.
DS1 started kindergarten in September so his daily care went from $45/day to $15/day (not including summer). So, I used some of that difference to replace my 17 year old car.
