When I went out to my car to go to work this morning, there was a new pair of running socks with a Starbucks gift card tied to it tucked in my door handle. "From Santa." Pretty sure I know Santa's alter ego (one of my tri club friends) but it was really unexpected and fun to find.

I managed to walk to the shopping center with 2 three year olds, go shopping, and carry everything back while holding munchkins hands.....and there were no meltdowns (by the kids or me).

This deserves a standing ovation. Seriously. Did you end up getting them a present because they were so good? Lol.
The best part was that I bought a pair of boots as a present and had to manage that.
They did get a piece of chocolate cake at the cafe while we were out. It was for all of us not having a meltdown, but the boy ate most of it.
With my Christmas bonus, we paid off the CC, put $2k+ into savings and still saved a little for some fun. We also paid of my husband's student loans this week I'm actually looking forward to doing the January budget and seeing what i can do with that extra money!
I made it to the gym for the first time in weeks. I've got at least 2 different kinds of new beer to try tonight! DH is cleaning and I'm watching TV with the girls. Lots of good things today.
A year ago today, we finalized DD1's adoption. I went to our local small town bakery and asked for a 2nd adoption day cake, something pink and princessy for a 2 1/2 year old. The owner who knows our whole story searched the internet for images and found this one and made it an edible image and the cake only cost $13:
We both took the day off work since our holiday party is tomorrow. MH cleaned the house and I went grocery shopping. Then we both went to Costco and then tried a new little restaurant for dinner - I had short rib tacos, mmm.

My youngest sister is graduating today. My dad just said how proud my grandpa (who was a miner turned janitor when the mines closed) would have been that all his grandkids have now made it through college.

In the past 4 hours, H and I organized his entire family into doing Secret Santa for Christmas Eve. There are about 30 people, and you never know quite who's coming, so it's usually just a parade of inexpensive, generic gifts (we were able to convince everyone into doing Secret Santa because no one had even bought presents yet). Not this year! I'm so excited to get to spend a reasonable amount of money on one gift that I can actually put thought into instead of stressing over how to organize tons of presents without going broke.
Tonight's plan is dinner and dancing with friends, one of whom is in town from Bermuda.
I'm sick, and also viciously hungover from meeting Bermuda friend for "a drink" last night, but I'm really looking forward to it anyway! In related news, there is a 100% chance of total voice loss tomorrow

DH and I took cross country skiing lessons today and I didn't fall down or injure myself. Sadly, one of my classmates fell and broke her arm. Our instructor was awful.
