Who has gone to an all inclusive with a toddler? DS would be 20 months for this trip if we decide to go. I can't decide if it will be more hassle than it's worth. A lot of our friends are going and some babies will be coming. Any feedback is appreciated. If you have been to Now Jade Riviera, I am even more interested in your input!
We have gone and enjoyed it a lot! Esp if u have friends that are going, maybe you can trade off and go out for a date night while your little one is asleep
mgm - what did you do for naps? Did your or your husband go back and hang in the room while your child slept? Naps by the pool? Set up a monitor in the hotel room? I'm trying to think through the logistics.
@starry - good to know about Palladium! That's another though I have - taking a trip on our own to a place where they have child care for kids that young.
We went to an AI in Turks & Caicos when DD was 2.5 and she LOVED it. It was basically kid heaven.
They did have childcare but we didn't even end up using it. We got a room with a patio so we could sit outside with our books and sip cocktails while she napped; it was actually pretty relaxing. I also booked spa treatments during nap time.
Nap time didn't really interfere with our day at all. It was actually kind of nice to take a break from the sun for a couple of hours.
And sun + water + sand = kid who slept soundly through the night, so that was a plus too.

We have friends getting married at an ai next summer and we said no way (we go every summer to an adults only so we're used to going that way). Your response here is making me reconsider....this sounds pretty great!

For naps, we went back to the room (he naps longer in a playpen then at the beach/pool), so this was just based on his personality.
During the nap, either one of us would stay at the room or both of us would stay and talk and/or nap. Just depended on what type of mood we were in. We had a sound machine so we could talk normally And hang out while our 1.5 year old was zonked out. We liked relaxing during the nap since the rest of the type was pretty active to keep our little guy entertained - walks around the resort, swimming, beach, etc. we have been to grand palladium and iberostar. Our toddler would pretty much love anywhere w a kiddie pool and beach

We took our son to Now Jade when he was about 22 months. We went last March. I don't remember any issues. One of us would just go back to the room at nap time and the other one would get to relax by the pool. They had some family evening activities. Overall we really enjoyed our time there.
Beaches looks great! Ball park how much was it? I know it's pricier than most Ai
I just looked up my email confirmation. We paid $3,000 for four nights in the French village. (Caribbean village is the cheapest -- they were sold out when we booked -- then French, then Italian, then Key West.)
We have taken our children to Cancun at that age, but stayed at a different resort. I have not stayed at Now Jade, but we stayed in the Now Larimar resort in the DR and had a wonderful time. Your kid will have a blast on the beach or pool and the sun/heat would help with naps. Food was OK, usual buffet food at AIs. We did eat at a few of the specialty restaurants too. We did a lot of reading on our kindles/ipads while the kid was sleeping. We did not have wifi - so it was really nice to completely unplug.
Thanks for all the responses!! I really appreciate it. Definitely giving me something to think about.
buckeyegirl - were there many kids there? Are kids allowed in all the pools? We would be going with a groups of friends that would be hanging in whatever pool has a good swim up bar so I don't know we could if hang out there with DS. (I don't know the layout of the resort so this question may not even make sense!)

mcfelix sorry I just saw this. There is a kids pool about 18 inches deep and it is very close to another large pool with swim up bar. The large pool has a ledge all around the edge that my kid could touch on just fine. We also took his puddle jumper with us and he floated around the big pool while we used the swim up bar. There were some other kids but it wasn't packed. Ithought the set up worked very well for us. Yes kids could go in any pool. I didn't even know they had the little kids pool until we arrived there.
I've been looking into this too. the Dreams resorts look nice but the kids club says 3-12. I'm going to look at some of the other options mentioned here too.
