Two uniformed NYPD officers were shot dead Saturday afternoon as they sat in their marked police car on a Brooklyn street corner — in what investigators believe was a crazed gunman’s execution-style mission to avenge Eric Garner and Michael Brown. “It’s an execution,” one law enforcement source said of the 3 p.m. shooting of the two officers, whose names were being withheld pending family notification of their deaths.
The tragic heroes were working overtime as part of an anti-terrorism drill when they were shot point-blank in their heads by the lone gunman, who approached them on foot from the sidewalk at the corner of Myrtle and Tompkins avenues in Bed-Stuy. “I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” a person believed to be the gunman wrote on Instagram in a message posted just three hours before the officers were shot through their front passenger window.
The post included an image of silver automatic handgun with a wooden handle. Another post showed camouflage pants and blue sneakers which matched the clothing the dead gunman was wearing as his body was carried from the scene on a stretcher. “They Take 1 Of Ours … Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” the post continued, signing off with, “This May Be My Final Post.” The gunman was a fugitive who had just murdered his girlfriend in Baltimore Saturday morning, sources told The Post. Minutes after shooting the two officers, he, too, was dead. He fled to a nearby subway station, the G-train station at Myrtle and Willoughby avenues, where, as pursuing cops closed in, he shot himself on a crowded platform, sources told The Post. “They engaged the guy and he did himself,” one investigator said of the gunman’s demise. Both shooting scenes — above and below ground — were scenes of blood and terror.
“I heard shooting, — four or five shots,” ear-witness Derrick McKie, 49, told The Post of the cops’ tragic murder. “It sounded like from a single gun,” he said. Ambulances and police cars rushed to the scene, he said. “I seen them putting the cop in the ambulance. He looked messed up,” McKie, a barber, added. “He took a high caliber weapon to the face. He was lifeless…I couldn’t see where the holes was that, all I could see was blood. His body was lifeless.” Modal Trigg Carmen Jimenez, 32, a social worker from Bedford-Stuyvesant, was on the subway platform when the gunman ran inside, pursued by officers. “Everything happened so quick,” said Jimenez, who is eight months pregnant. “We were standing waiting for the G train. We heard arguing from the other end of the platform. It looked like two cops came in there was lots of yelling and they said, ‘Everybody get down.’ “We tried to get out of there, and there was a lot of shouting, people were screaming, people were trying to run. “I threw myself on the floor. I was afraid for my life and afraid for my baby.”
Apparently from his Instagram posts which, among other things, said "“They Take 1 Of Ours … Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” the post continued, signing off with, “This May Be My Final Post.”

Terrible! And he also murdered his girlfriend?! It sounds to me like he just wanted to die today and if he could take people out with him, so much the better.
Two NYPD cops were executed Saturday after a gang member from Baltimore drove to the city to kill police officers after wounding his girlfriend, sources told the Daily News.
The shooter, identified as Ismaaiyl Brinsley, boasted about wanting to kill cops in the hours before he ambushed the officers outside the Tompkins Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant about 3 p.m. Saturday.
“I’m Putting Wings On Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours...Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” Brinsley wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of a silver handgun.
Brinsley made good on his promise, firing several rounds into the patrol car parked near Myrtle and Tompkins Aves., witnesses said.
“The perp came out of the houses, walked up behind the car and lit them up,” a high-ranking police official told the Daily News.
Brinsley then sprinted around the corner to the Myrtle-Willoughby Aves. subway station where he shot himself in the head, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
Both officers were rushed to Woodhull Hospital but were later pronounced dead.
Witnesses said the officers never had a chance.
“He just walked up and shot that cop in the head,” one man said.
Rescuers rushed to the aid of the mortally wounded officers.
“They basically dragged two cops out their car,” a second witness said. “I saw it. One was shot in the face. There was blood coming out of his face.”
Details of the shooting outside Baltimore were scarce. A family member of the victim told the Daily News Brinsley shot her in the stomach.

Not good, not good... Things are really going to go to shit if people start treating this like war where ALL cops are the enemy instead of the corruption in the system.

I'm thinking this guy was unhinged to begin with. Especially killing his gf prior.

It doesn't even matter that this guy was unhinged and killed his girlfriend and then used Garner as a convenient excuse to kill some cops. People are just grouping him in with anyone else who is "anti-cop." So fuck this guy for not just devastating a few families today, but for giving a lot of people further ammunition against the protestors.
This is horrible. I feel so bad for the family and fellow officers of the two cops, plus the girlfriend's family, and everyone on that platform. I cannot imagine how scary that was.
"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley
Guy murdered his girlfriend too. Too bad he didn't shoot himself instead, retaliation against himself for taking her life.
He shot her in the stomach but she survived.
Thanks - I misread that on one of the sites. I'm glad she survived, I hope she's ok and that she doesn't have lifelong issues because of the shooting. The whole situation is horrible. That woman and her family, the cops and their families.

I went back to find a source for what I posted, but it appears that it's unclear. Some sources are saying she was murdered, some saying she was shot but not killed. I hope she was only wounded.
Al Sharpton has released a statement on the murders, offering condolences to the officers' families and condemning the violence, De Blasio has not. Embarrassing that Sharpton beat him to it.
And Facebook is now blaming the protestors for this, becuase protesting caused anti-police sentiment. Sigh.
"My gut is filled with fury at the execution of the two NYPD officers. This was premeditated murder; an assasination of two innocent cops with families who were just doing their job. Hopefully we've caught or killed the perps. Now every person who protested against alleged police violence has to ask themselves, protestor and official alike, did something I did or said help lead to this? Did I add to the swirl of anti-police hatred that led this scumbag to commit an act of terror? Those photographed screaming in cops faces or those leaders who enabled this vitriol to fester, how do you feel about your rhetoric and your mis-directed fury? 2 cops are dead, what will those leaders and protestors do now?" - Geraldo Rivera
@soudesafinado said it best - this is not the answer people!
The tweets and FB messages I am reading in support of the gunman are sickening. I can't repeat enough what has already been said - this is not the fucking answer, people!
I am dreading getting up and reading the Sunday paper tomorrow morning. I dread reading about some good kid who joined the NYPD to make a difference. About the cops kids left behind just days before Xmas. Eric Garner was a disgraceful situation, but this? I just can't. This is not the answer.
