It's definitely respiratory. Whether it's viral or bacterial, only a doctor can tell you. Even if it's viral, a doctor can prescribe you some cough syrup with codeine to help you sleep. Feel better soon!
I had bronchitis once, and I was coughing up nasty phlegm that looked like dried boogers.
Right now, I'm just congested in my head w/ a lot of mucus. I expect a sore throat in the morning and then chest congestion in another couple of days. I'm holding out hope that it will have run its course by Christmas. PLEASE be gone by Christmas!

Huh. Did it go away on its own? I have gotten a couple of nasty sinus infections since getting pregnant, but the last one included an absurd amount of coughing the most disgusting looking mucous. Sounds similar to yours. I wonder if it was more than a sinus infection.

I got a regular cold over Thanksgiving and it settled into a really deep chest cough. Mucinex helped a bit. I gave it 2 weeks and went to Urgent Care this past Tuesday.
The dr heard me cough and gave me a steroid, good cough syrup and antibiotics. I finally felt almost normal yesterday.

I waited too long to get looked at.
Ugh. Yeah. I'm going to go have it looked at.
It's very deep! I've never had something this deep in my lungs.
I can feel myself trying to cough up fluids but I just can't. Ugh.
It's weird cause I don't have any other symptoms. My head is clear and I feel fine. So weird.
Sounds like when I get bronchitis, but it only happens after I otherwise get over being sick. How long have you felt like this? I typically don't bother going in until it's been a couple of weeks --:if it's viral, there's little they can do. And if it's bacterial, it will generally clear up on its own.

Two days.
Ugh. Lol.
If I remember correctly, most bronchitis is viral, esp if you were well when it came on and don't have other symptoms. So your dr will probably tell you rest/fluids. No harm getting it checked out if you are so inclined and/or want some good cough meds. I personally would be more concerned about what I'd pick up in the waiting room at this point of the year. Heh
Until you get into the doctor you can take a cough syrup that says "expectorant" on the bottle. That should help you cough some of that up. Also a humidifier will loosen it up or a hot steam shower.
Mucinex gives me a weird reaction. It makes me feel like my head is a balloon. So I take cough syrup instead. I hope you feel better soon!

Another vote of bronchitis or the start if the flu. My sinus infection turned to bronchitis. I have the the manliest sounding cough. It's deep and rattles. I spent yesterday morning in the ER not able to catch my breathe. They said bronchitis and flu are the two biggest viruses going around. Hope you can get it under control by Christmas and feel better soon.
I'm my chest. I'm coughing up some fluids - not a lot- but my chest is tight and my cough is deep and painful.
No other symptoms.
What do I have? Is this a respiratory thing?
It's gross, but what colour is your sputum? If it's green in colour, get checked out as that is often indicative of an infection. If not, try a cough syrup that is an expectorant. It will help you could up the crap. If your fevered, treat it and keep an eye on it.
