She won't eat mac n cheese unless it is from a box with orange powder, but I wonder if I could swap out the regular noodles for quinoa ones. Do they make elbows?
Is it possible to slip some protein powder into the box mix?
I just discovered Quaker oatmeal, raisin and almond granola bats that have 10 grams of protein. They are pretty big, so I don't give them too close to mealtime, but they are good for a morning snack.
Some days the only protein and veggies DS will eat are these (absolutely revolting, IMO) organic veggie patties from Costco. He also really likes the (also revolting lol) ricotta pancakes speckledfrog told me about.
He's a big fan of dipping, too. That gets food in him when nothing else will sometimes.
Lol. I never said they were for adult consumption! Each one of those bad boys has over 4 grams.
Does she like pancakes? I have a recipe for protein pancakes that is, IMO, pretty tasty. And she could dip them in syrup. They've got egg whites (I use whole eggs) and cottage cheese. Let me know if you want the recipe.
eta: They freeze well and reheat easily in a toaster oven, so it would be an easy snack thing for her.

I'd like your recipe, my DD loves pancakes. This week at least.
I've gotten a lot of great ideas in this thread since I have been trying to push the protein too. DD decided this week she hates her previously favorite food, tacos and the only meat she likes is sausage. Kids man.
My kid hates condiments on her food, but loves dip. The same hummus she'll eat with a spoon she will scream and cry about if it shows up on a sandwich.

6 Egg whites (I usually use 3 egg whites, 3 whole eggs, but that's just because I think the yolk fat is good) 1 cup Rolled oats (not quick cooking) 1 cup Cottage Cheese (I use full fat, but it doesn't matter) 2ish tbsp. Sugar (you can use granulated sugar, sugar substitute, honey, maple syrup, etc.- I generally use honey and you can adjust the amount to fit your taste) 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
I also add about 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon, but that's totally optional. Feel free to add other spices.
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Allow to sit for a few minutes so the oats can thicken the batter. Cook on stove as you would any other pancake. You can add fruit, chocolate chips, etc. to the top of the batter once you start cooking it if you want to. If you want to freeze them, let cool completely on a baking rack, freeze individually, then store in a ziplock bag. Reheat in a toaster oven or microwave.
