I am curious what specifcally draws you to a cruise?
We did a Royal Carribean one a few years ago with extended family and then did an AI after that. We much prefered the AI over the cruise and we really would not go on a cruise again to see the Carribean....Alaska maybe but not for the islands.

$$$ and seeing multiple places in one vacation experience. I have never been to an AI yet but will be going in 2015 to Mexico. So I will see if that tames my cruise addiction.

If you are drinkers keep in mind you pay per drink (this might be different cruise line to cruise line). For mexico, we did Live Aqua in Cancun and much preferred that over the RC cruise.
This probably isn't something we'd do until 2016 as it's too hard to commit to long term vacations right now.
I want to do Alaska for sure, in part because we can drive to Seattle so we save on airfare. We'll probably try one of the bigger ships, and just choose base off of itinerary, offers, etc. NCL sounds great for the casual atmosphere, but Celebrity sounds great too!
For something different, I'm thinking I want to try HAL in the Caribbean. They've got some good routes, and I like the idea of sharing a boat with "only" 15000 other people as opposed to 3,000. I suspect that's more of our style.
