2. Much faster. With DD1, labor was about 14 hours with 3 hours if pushing. With DD2, labor was 5 hours total with less than a minute of pushing.
3. More painful in the sense that I progressed so much faster that by the time I was much further along when I got my epi. But the delivery once I got the epi was much less painful.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 -a day later
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? - ds1 was 27hrs with 1.5hrs pushing , ds2 was 3hrs labour and out in 2 pushes.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? - Hard to judge. I had NO2 for most of transition with ds1, whereas I was unmedicated and fully dilated stuck in a car with ds2... But I was only in pain for an hour with ds2, which counts for something.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? Less
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. -the same, because I kept trying to do too much too soon due to ds1 (because I felt fine within a week). It was about 7 weeks before my lady parts were 100% both times, but I kept reinjuring myself the second time which was entirely my fault. #2 should have been loads easier
1. Earlier 2. Faster (3 cm to baby born in 40 min!) 3. Hard to compare bc has epidural with first and no time to get one with second 4. Tear less 5. Much faster recovery!

1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 early. DS1 was induced at 40w3d, DS came at 39 w
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? So much faster and overall better. Number 1 was induced, with number 2 I was only really in labor two hours.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? So much less painful
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? I didn't tear at all with number 2, number 1 I had an cut.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. So much easier, I was up and walking within a few hours.
DS2 was the best labor/delivery/recovery that I could have wished for. I was in, labor less than two hours, he came within 30 minutes of arriving at the hospital. It was awesome, I swear I felt high after his birth, either that, or I was just so grateful that it was the opposite of DS1.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 Earlier DD was born on her due date, DS was 6 days late
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1?Faster, 5 hours compared to 10 hours. Only 11 minutes of pushing compared to 3 HOURS for DS (Hallelujah!)
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1?It was just a lot better, I was in the water for transition (which felt great). I knew what to expect so it wasn't as terrifying.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? I tore less. I was in a different position and just did a more controlled push.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Easier. I bled so much less, the MWs were shocked at how little blood there was. I had a home birth, so I just laid in my own bed for a few days. The MWs had given strict to orders to my H and MIL that I was do no cleaning, cooking or childcare for two weeks. It was awesome to be lazy and snuggle with DD for a few days. I still think of that time fondly. LOL. Being able to sit in bed and watch HGTV all day.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 - earlier. DD1 was a 42 week induction; DD2 came 3 days after her due date.
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Much faster. DD1 was an induction that started Monday night, and she was born Thursday morning. I went into labor with DD2 at 1:15am and I was pushing by 9am.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? They were both c-sections after failed deliveries, but the labor with DD2 was much easier and more manageable. It was also much shorter, so I'm sure that had something to do wit it. Plus no pit.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? N/A. They were sections
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Both were reasonably easy, though having a toddler made the recovery a little harder with the second.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1: 3 days later. On my due date with DS, 3 days over with DD 2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Faster, lol. Particularly the end bit. 3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? I was more in control. I think it was "as painful", but the "painful" part was less than an hour. 4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? More. Same degree, but the words "multiple" and "internal" came up. 5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Easier.
Plus zero breastfeeding issues. My milk came in quickly, I had zero pain, and she never thought twice about how to breastfeed. Taking away that stress was huge.
Exact same. Went into labor on my own both times and delivered both at 40w1d
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1?
Labor was three hours shorter (12hrs vs 9) but pushing was much shorter (2hrs vs 20 min) I think because the first time they told me to start pushing as soon as I got to 10cm but maybe I wasn't ready yet? My second I labored down and could feel my body pushing before I actively pushed.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1?
More. Sorry. I screamed like in the movies when I pushed him out. I blame that on him being almost 11 lbs, I don't think there was any way around that.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1?
Didn't tear with either kid.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1.
Easier. I remember bleeding for six weeks with my first and I was done bleeding the day after delivery with the second. I had a really easy recovery the second time around.

1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1? I delivered at exactly the same time, 39 weeks, 6 days. First delivery was induced, second my water broke.
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Much faster.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? A little of both. In the first delivery I needed max dose of pitocin, and I was in incredible pain before I got the epidural. During the second birth I barely had any pitocin, but the epidural didn't work on my left side, so I felt everything on that side.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? Same. 2nd degree tear.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1? So, so, so much easier! I was on my feet and felt fine within a couple hours. I was used to a baby schedule, newborn needs and the lack of sleep, so it was no big deal to come home.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 Later. I went into labor at 40w with DS1, unplanned induction with DS2 at 40w3d due to heart rate drops on my nst
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1 delivery was faster. Pushed for about 30 min (and had to pause for a bit) instead of 4.5 hours
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? Less. My Epi ran out with my first though
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? I had an episiotomy both times
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Easier
My labor was harder with DS2 due to the induction and his position caused pain that the epi couldn't fix. First labor/delivery was 10 hours, 2nd was 13 from pitocin to baby
And TIA for participating in my stressed out obsessing.
1. Depends on whose numbers you use. He came either one day before she did, or a week earlier. He was an entire pound less, but that could be all the fluids I had with A.
2. With both I woke up with contractions and was ready to push 7hrs later. With my first the pushing took almost 5hrs, and the second took 15 minutes.
3. Up until transition it was much less painful. With A I had horrible nauseating back labor, and with M I could talk through the contractions until almost the end. Transition was harder, because it happened in the car, and pushing was more painful, because it was so much more productive.
4. I teared a little less than the first time.
5. My recovery was much easier. After A was born, I felt like I had wrestled alligators. Every muscle in my body was tired from pushing so long.
My second labor was so much easier that I wasn't even sure it was real until I had been laboring for hours. It really was pleasant and I did a good job of managing the pain until I got in the car. In retrospect I should have gone to the hospital a little bit earlier, because I lost my focus in transit.

1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 induced at 40w1d both times
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? much much faster
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? more painful because I did not have an epi (and had pitocin with #2)
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? multiple tears the first time and absolutely none the 2nd time
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. A million times easier. Completely night and day between the two. I went home with a catheter and pee bag after DD1 was born. I was in so much pain. After DD2 was born, I wanted to leave the hospital basically immediately and other than the pain from my milk drying up (I didn't BF either kid. It was so much more painful drying up the 2nd time but much faster) and some slight gas pain, my recovery the second time was so much better.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1: Later - DD1 was 2wks early and DD2 was born 3 days before her due date
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Faster - went from 5hr to 3hr
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as#1? - Same- pushed once or twice for both. Contractions were the same, I was on nubane for both but it only knocked me out between contractions, I still felt everything
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1?- Same (had episiotomy with both)
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. - Easier-knew what to expect and how to handle better
And TIA for participating in my stressed out obsessing.
I was a panicky mess in the weeks leading up to M's birth. I was worried about pushing going as badly as it did with A. My midwife told me to stop focusing on the parts that were hard with A's labor, and to focus on the fact that I had already birthed a baby, and that my body knew what it was doing. I wish I had listened.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 #1 was born at 36 weeks. #2 was a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks.
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? I went 0-10 cm really fast with DS1, pushed for four hours, then ended up with a c-section where DS was too big to fit out so they had to make multiple internal cuts. Because of this a RCS was presented as pretty much my only option by multiple doctors.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? Since I hadn't labored/pushed with DS2 it was so much easier. I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia the first time and was so exhausted.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? No tearing with either.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. A lot easier with DS2 since I hadn't already labored/pushed. I will say I had no GI issues with DS1 and this time wasn't quite so lucky.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 I went into labor on my due date with DS1, I was a week late with DS2.
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? With DS1 I was in labor about 12 hours, start to finish. With DS2 my labor was 75 MINUTES start to finish.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? I think since labor with DS2 was so much shorter, the contractions were more intense. I never felt the need to ask for pain meds with DS1, while when we got to the hospital with DS2, I said "i need drugs now!" I delivered him 10 minutes later though, so the drugs never came
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? I didn't tear at all with DS2.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Recovery with DS2 was much easier.

1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 - 41 weeks with both. DD1 was induced, DD2 was spontaneous after a membrane sweep the day before induction was set
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? - About the same 6 hours active labor and 10-15 minutes of pushing
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? - I had epidurals both times, so they were similar
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? - Less
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. - Much easier: I knew that getting up and moving would be better for me, so I was up and showered ASAP and spent 36 hours total in the hospital the 2nd time vs. 3 days+ with DD1
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 DD2 was born on her due date, DD1 was induced at 40w5d
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Faster, but probably because she wanted to come on her own.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? I had an epi with DD1 and no pain meds with DD2, so it's hard to say, but DD2's birth was easier, I think.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? Same.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Same. I had an easy recovery with DD1 and DD2.
And TIA for participating in my stressed out obsessing.
I was excited by how many people were saying #2 was earlier and then realized many people said same or later. Same would be fine - later not ideal, lol.
I LOVE that essentially everyone had a quicker delivery with #2.

1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1
Later. I was induced with #1 at 39w5d for suspected iugr. Was induced with #2 at 41w1d.
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Faster. 3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? Same. But got epi both times and it worked amazingly both times.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? Tore same. 2nd degree. #2 was a full 2 lbs bigger than #1 and had a giant head.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Both were easy. #2 was a bit more painful because uterine contractions while bf'ing were worse. Hemmies were also worse.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1?
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1?
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1.
And TIA for participating in my stressed out obsessing.
1. #1 was 5 weeks early due to sudden on-set pre-e. #2 was three days past her due date (no pre-e).
2. #1 was a c-section b/c his heart rate was not responding well to contractions. And my OB decided on a c-section FAST--I was monitored for less than a half hour (I was absolutely fine with this--see next question). Once the decision was made, the baby was out less than 2 hours later. I labored at home (very sporadic contractions) with #2 for ~30 hours, then went in b/c it seemed my water had broken. It had not, but did during the exam, and I was 5 cm. Labored at the hospital for another 12 hours, then delivered VBAC.
3-5. I feel like a lone wolf on this, but my VBAC experience was pretty terrible. I had numerous discussions with my doctor(s) about it, and all kept insisting that VBAC was the way to go (or try, anyway)--and all of them brought up how recovery was easier. (FTR, my CS recovery was not bad at all). I wasn't opposed to a VBAC, but also never felt like I NEEDED to push a baby out or have that experience.
In any case, I decided to try to do it, and was able to successfully--and while the delivery itself was not bad (thankfully, my epidural worked perfectly), my recovery was horrendous. I was up and walking less than 24 hours after my CS and had next to no pain; 8 weeks after my VBAC (plus third degree tear) I was still limping and sore, not helped at all by the fact by (TMI) insane hemorrhoids. I also spent close to a week spiking 104 fevers at night when DD was about two weeks old, and the OB department kept insisting this was normal, just a virus and that someone at my house must have gotten me sick (they did not). I ended up going to my regular primary about this (twice) and she put me on antibiotics. (I cannot say for certain that this was related to my delivery, but who knows). Finally, my DD did not do well during the VBAC. She aspirated meconium on the way out and had to be intubated and sent to the NICU. We also had some cord issues that could have been extremely dangerous.
1. 1. #1 36.5 weeks #2 37.5 weeks 2. A little faster, and a little less pushing (35 min vs 15) 3. Probably about the same. I had an epidural w both. 4. The same tearing (very little with both.) 5. Much, much easier recovery.
1. Did you deliver earlier/later/same as #1 Later. #1 was 39w3d, #2 was 40w6d.
2. Was your delivery faster/slower/same as #1? Faster. (8 hours vs 5 - and 2nd would have been faster by a lot if she had been vertex. I delivered her frank breech, but a butt dilating your cervix takes longer than a skull.
3. Was your delivery less/more/just as painful as #1? Just as painful, but I managed both med-free.
4. Did you tear less/more/same as #1? Same. In the same place. Tore along my scar line from #1.
5. Was your recovery easier/harder/same as #1. Tear and uterus healing happened faster. I did have more lingering hip pain, but DD was a pound bigger and came out frank breech so she stretched my hips out more than she would have if she had been vertex. I needed more pain meds after DD because the after birth contractions were just awful, especially when BFing, for the first 24 hours. After that it was manageable with motrin. We were itching to leave the hospital 1 day after #2's birth. I was happy we got almost 3 days in after #1. I was also moving around better after #2.
