I planned the holiday party at work last week but was unable to attend because of my grandmother's passing. I mentioned this to the events manager and that I will have to stop in another time to try the food, no biggie. I posted about his restaurant on social media during the party and after, stating how awesome the food was and yay for local businesses.
Today I received a $50 gift card from the events manager in the mail, addressed to me. Card says "MCC, Wonderful to work with you...please enjoy this gift and swing on in for something 'sweet'! Best, Manager" (Sweet is part of the restaurant name)
This isn't a big deal but I'm not sure what to do with it. I told my boss in passing and he didn't comment on it. Do I bring it up again and ask if he wants it, buy more food for the office one day, go on my own and use the gift? This has never happened to me at work before and naturally I'm a spaz.

The vendors we often use (court reporte4rs, copying place, etc.) always give the attorneys like gift cards/gift baskets as appreciation for the work. Our firm sends them something in return, I don't know what. I think the gift card is for you personally to use as you like to thank you for the business.
It's for you. That's one of the perks of being an event organizer! I used to get things from vendors all the time, and if it was food I would put it out on the counter to share, but if it was something like a gift card then I would use it.

Our company has very strict anti-bribery policies but I wouldn't even bat an eye for a $50 gift card. Vendors usually give us stuff for Christmas, or take us out for dinner to expensive places.
I would mention it to your boss but but the card is for you to use.

If there is nothing in company policy on it, I'd say go enjoy it. It sounds like it was their way of saying thank you, and wanting to make sure you had a chance to try their food

With my company, our vendors can't even buy people coffee if they're on site. I would double check it with your boss, your company doesn't seem to be that strict.
