It was refreshing to take a break from the board, but I generally love the gbcn community, so hi
My boyfriend and I broke up. It's a long story, but we still care about each other and things are kind of up in the air. But I decided not to go visit. So we'll see what happens. If we're meant to be together, I think things will work themselves out. We've been through a lot over the past 2 years and I still think we have a special connection, so we'll see what happens.
I finished all my residency interviews. I'm not sure how I'm going to rank all the programs, so that's making me nervous, but I'll sit down and figure it out over the next month.
I just finished a month on gynonc and omg, it was a little brutal. I loved it, but I was there everyday from 5am-7 or 8pm. Gave me a better taste of what some months of residency will be like, fun!
Since I'm not warding off ebola by going to visit my boyfriend, I didn't want to sit at home feeling sorry for myself, so I randomly decided to book a road trip to Montreal. I was trying to thinking of places within driving distance that I've never been before that would be fun for a solo trip and someone suggested Montreal, so I decided to go for it! I'm staying at a cute little b&b and have no clue what else I'll be doing there, but I'm excited to hit the road and have a good time.
So I have a lot of unknowns going on right now, but overall I'm happy. I hope everyone around here is doing well!
ETA: Oh yeah, also my divorce should be finalized within a month, praise baby jesus, and the asshole that robbed us is going to trial next month (he's a career criminal :/) I know people don't like when people don't update about everything, so hopefully I included every last detail lol.

I'm sorry it didn't work out, but it's still a pretty exciting time in your life! Good luck with your residency applications.
While you're in Montreal, if you drink beer, check out Dieu Du Ciel or Benelux. If you want awesome sushi, go to Saint Sushi. If you love eggs benedict, check out L'Avenue for brunch. Or bagels at Saint Viateur. PM me if you want any specific suggestions (we vacation there every summer, since SO used to live there.)
*hugs* on the breakup. You are destined for a great future with or without him. Have a great time in Montreal! I've never been so can't recommend anything, but do the things that give you the most joy.
I'm glad to see an update, though I hate to hear about your breakup. I hope your placement (is that how it works?) goes well and we see you around more.
Sorry about the split. I'm glad it was amicable. If he were here, would it be different?
Good luck with the Match! You have to wait until when? March? *sits on hands*
I hate to be the jerk who asks this question, but what will you do if you don't match?
Yeah that's the thing that bums me out the most, I'm 99.9% sure that if I were there or if he were there we'd live happily ever after lol. And I feel like if I decide that we should get back together (he's basically told me that he still loves me 100% and wants to be together) then I'm committing to it 100% in regards to him moving here, going through immigration and all that headache. And with what's happened over the past month, I'm not sure if I want to commit to that anymore even though I really love him and think he's a great person.
Anyway, as far as what I'll do if I don't match, I'll scramble. I highly doubt there will be an open ob/gyn programs that I can scramble in to, but there are transitional years that you can go in to for a year, then I'd apply again next year. Some people applying ob/gyn applied family med as a back up since you can do some of the ob with family med, but family med sounds miserable to me, so I'm just going to reapply ob/gyn next year if I'm one of the unlucky ones who don't match.

Great, thanks for the recs! Because like I said, I have no clue what I'm going to do there considering I booked the trip only 1 week in advance lol.
I have wondered if you would ever come back or if you were run off the board forever. I'm glad you're not gone forever!
I am so sad to hear about your breakup. The distance would have been SO hard and I'm glad to hear it sounds like you are making the right choice for you. I can't imagine how difficult all that "moving across the world to be with you" stuff would be.
I'm happy to hear everything else is going well too. I am sure you will match, you're awesome!

Haha, yeah I wasn't going to let a few people run me off the boards. Overall it's a really supportive and kind place, so I'll just remember that and avoid drama posts!
Thanks for the vote of faith in matching. Hope all is well with you too.
