My ILs are watching my DDs an extra day next week. I'm pretty caught up on work, so I'm going to take the whole day and do a ruthless cleaning & purge. It amazing how much crap we have accumulated since moving here 7 months ago. It's hard for me to keep it clean and organized around here when there is no place to put stuff.
Anyone else have more organized home on their 2015 New year resolutions list?
I have been wanting to take a step towards a more minimalist life and have already started a little bit, but going through DD's things would be a huge leap forward (it's just finding the time to do it). I consign things she no longer needs twice a year and keep it all in my guest room closet (which is just a complete mess then, the other 10 months out of the year.)
Storage in our house sucks so I am constantly getting rid of things.
That's one of the things we'll be working on starting tomorrow since H has 1.5 weeks off. I can't wait unless I'm still feeling like crap and can't sleep. If that's the case, I'll have to put H to work alone.
I got a lot done during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Took a break until late last week and started tackling some things again. We just had our weekly trash pick up and they took a BUNCH of stuff - it was an exciting moment. I had hoped to make a run to drop of stuff we're donating this week but I think it's not going to happen until next week.
Ha! It's been on my list since we moved into our house 4 years ago! Mostly - finish figuring out all the crap in the garage (most of which belongs to my stepmum from her former storage unit). We finally got bookcases this year so that was nice to get most of our books back!
Our house is less cluttered now than it was a year or two ago. Even after adding dd into the mix. I definitely want to continue because we've really felt the benefits of living lighter.
It's scary to get rid of things sometimes because of the cost to replace, like Juno said. But the game changers for us were packing up the kitchen for renovation and packing up my clothes when I was in maternity wear. Both times I found out just how much extra there was that wasn't needed.
I'm pretty good about purging but I have spaces and things that need to be organized more efficiently (corner cabinet, pantry closet, kid stuff). We are however getting a sunroom in the spring with more closets and I have a friend who wants some kid stuff so that will help tremendously.
I did a good deep clean last week one day would like to keep that up but I give that until January 10th..haha.
