I'm reading Heirs of the Body by Carola Dunn. I hope it will be a quick easy read, as I need to finish it before I head off on vacation on Tuesday. There's no real reason for that, but I decided that all the books I'm taking on vacation will be donated to the ship's paperback exchange at the end of my cruise, and I want to keep this book.
QOTW: It depends on the book and the person who gave it to me. If I really like and trust the person, I'll give the book a try. If it's more of a random "you-re-a-read-so-here's-a-book" type gift, I feel no obligation to read it. If I do not read it, I will usually donate it or use it for crafts or other non-book related purposes, like doorstops, leveling tables, or paperweights.
Still reading Fall of Hyperion, but not going to finish it before our trip and I'm bringing my Kindle istead of paper books. I guess this mens my 2014 total is only going to be 48.
QOTW: like you, depends on how much I trust the person who gave it to me. But, I get a lot of book recs from you ladies here so I guess I trust a lot of people.
I'm reading The Girls at the Kingfisher Club by Geneveive Valentine, which I'm really enjoying. It's a riff on the story of the twelve dancing princesses.
QOTW: I usually at least give them a try, depending on the book. I have a couple odd ones from MIL from last Christmas that I still haven't picked up, though.
Fiction- Murder in Thrall by Anne Cleeland. First in a newish mystery series. It's very well-plotted, but the relationship between the two detectives is creepy and weird and I don't buy it. I think it's meant to appeal to fans of Elementary and/or Sherlock. The detectives are a man and woman from Scotland Yard.
Non-Fiction- Persiana by Sabrina Ghayour. Really good cookbook focussing on the flavors of Persian cooking.
QOTW- it depends. I'll try to read it, but I'll often regift it, or trade it in.
I'm reading the last Sookie Stackhouse book. Im pretty excited to finally finish this series.
QOTW: Eh I usually give gift books a shot. Usually because whoever gave it to me will want to talk about it. I don't get books as gifts very often and when I do it's because I've asked for it usually.
I am really enjoying these BOTH! They are both very different and I am further along in the Beautiful American, so I am hoping Miss Perigrine agrees with me too!
qotd: Really depends, if it is something i totally have no interest or seems boring to me most likely not. I would give ANY book i do not want to my mother. She reads so much, she reads everything, so she would gladly take anything off my hands

Orphan Train. im loving it. I'm actually listening on audio and love the Irish accent. For a couple hours after I stop, all my thought sound Irish. I wish I could make my voice come out like that, but no.
I'm still trying to decide what to read next. Been trying to decide all day.
QOTW: If I thought someone would want to borrow it eventually, I'd save it. Or gift it to them. If not, I'd donate it if I couldn't return/exchange it.
I'm reading The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells by Andrew Sean Greer. I'm really enjoying it.
QOTW: Usually the only books I've received as gifts are books I've specifically requested. I would probably attempt to read any randomly gifted books though.
