Sorry, I am going to ask all the labour questions now. If you dilated before labour, were you crampy or was it a total surprise? If you were crampy, how did that play out? Tia :-)
I had sooooo many Braxton hicks contractions it wasn't a surprise either time that I was dilated, but it was a surprise how much, 4 cm with L at my 38 week appointment and 6 cm with O at my 37 week.

Whoa! And you can't tell at all? That's crazy.
Well, my water never broke (both times the doctor did it at the hospital eventually) and they weren't ever regular but I had serious sessions of like an hour or so of "holy shit I think I'm going into labor" both times. With O, this caused me to call my mom, cry, and beg her to come down a week early. They got here 15 hours before he was born. So, useful!

I was crampy for 2-3 weeks, had my first internal check at 37+ weeks (Thursday), was dilated "maaaaaybe a cm, we'll talk about induction at next week's appointment" and went into labor Monday morning. Water broke at home at 7:15am, had a baby by 1:30 that afternoon.
I wasn't dilated until the day I went into labor with #2 and I felt crampy all day. It's what pushed me to go in (that and the increasing contractions ) and I'd gone from 0-6cms.

I was 2 cm with DS for about a week. Not crampy until I was in labor. I was 3 cm with DD for at least a few days. Not crampy until a day or two before full on labor.

I was crampy and contractiony starting at about 37 weeks. Went from 1cm to 3cm at 40 weeks. Induced at 41w1d still at 3cm even though I was crampy and contractiony that last week too.

I was 3 cm at 38 weeks and 5 cm at 39 weeks. When my OB checked me at 39 weeks and figured out how far along I was, she asked, "How long have you been having the painful contractions for?" She seemed shocked that I hadn't been having any - just Braxton Hicks. I didn't have any cramping or painful contractions until I went into labor at 40w3d.
I felt like general crap the days I dilated w both. With c, it was 5 weeks early, went to 5 cm and felt like I could barely walk and felt like crap. Then I felt ok again after a day or 2. Same w j, but I was a little more beat and not as ok feeling in the weeks after. (We also had gone to disney then, it was 4 wks til end of pg. I think it was a combo of chasing older kid, constant walking, illnesses, etc that made that one feel crappier when dilated.
I CANNOT believe how close you are! I'm very excited for you. I miss chatting w you, but I'm not on a ton. I think of you a ton and have wondered how you guys are. I'm sure the holidays and upcoming birth have you excited and yet tinged with thoughts of your mom. (I hesitate to bring her up, but guessing she's there on your mind always)
Did you ever find out boy or girl? I keep feeling like its a boy but what do I know? Are the girls excited?
We're in Australia for a few months now, so I'm not on a lot.

I'm so happy to see (read?) your face! Thank you for thinking of me...and yup, lots of excitement, but mom's loss is always there. It's a girl! She'll be named after my mom ❤️ Australia?? So cool! Where?
