I am not a regular on this board, but I thought one of you might know.I have been googling trying to figure out if Written in My Own Heart's Blood is the final book in the series, but can't seem to find the answer anywhere............it just seems like it leaves a lot of open story lines............does anybody know?

Definitely not the last book. I think the author has said how many more books she thinks it will be, but I firmly believe she will write this story until she dies! Her books just cover way too much detail to cover a large time span, and I think she wants to write decades more yet!
She just started writing #9, she doesn't know yet whether or not it will be the last one (I'm guessing not). She doesn't have an outline or know how the story ultimately ends; she makes it all up as she goes along. But yeah, she's averaging about 4 years between books, so it's going to be awhile.

I really want to read this series but I would have to re-read it every time a new book came out. There is no way I'd remember everything for 4 years.

You know what? That's not a bad thing. I tried reading #6 when it came out without a full reread, and I had forgotten things. I had never gotten around to reading #7 and then #8 came out in June. The tv show on Starz renewed my interest, and I did a full read through again, and it was AWESOME. I remembered some very major things, but it was like reading everything for the first time (after a 6 year break), and it was wonderful!

I see your point. Maybe it's the length. I own the first two books and compared to most of the books I own, they're a little intimidating haha.
