The nice thing about The Makeup Thread is that you don't have to keep up with it. You just jump in whenever you want and nobody actually expects you to have read more than the last page or two.
So how can we make MUT dynamic for people on low/no buys?
More challenges? Use 5 things up by a certain date? Try something you own but haven't used in a long time? Make a Marsala face with only things you own? (Marsala face sounds funny.)
Any other ideas or thoughts?
BTW I have no empties to share this month. Anyone else?
I actually just left ULTA with benefit shadow and "Puff Off." I always look so freaking tired! Although maybe now that school is done I will actually get some sleep and that may help.

My empties include Naked foundation (my favorite) and PF CC cream, a close second. Also both my CeraVe am and pm moisturizers. Both of which I highly recommend. They're straight forward and simple moisturizers. Good for anyone with sensitive skin or sensitive to fragrance.
All of these with the exception of PF have been repurchased before. I'll be picking up PF again too.
I have so many shadows right now that I infrequently use, I wouldn't even know what to do with a Naked palette, nor which one to pick. I currently own: Urban Decay Ammo Palette - I can't use this one without massive fallout. It's like a glitter bomb blew up on my face. Nice in theory, bad in practice for me. Too Faced A La Mode - pretty, no fallout. I'm just bad with pressed shadow. Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadows - Fierce and Tangy, Tough as Taupe, Inked in Pink, Barely Branded (I call these my idiot proof shadows and they're the only ones I use on the regular without epic failure) Tarte Away Oui Go - I bought this mostly for the blushes and b/c I'm a Tarte product junkie, but then I read on here people weren't impressed with this set, including the shadows. So now I own it and haven't tried anything from this set other than the lip glosses, which I really like.
Own these brushes: Bare Escentuals Tapered Shadow Brush (came with something many moons ago) Real Techniques Starter Kit: base shadow brush, deluxe crease brush, accent brush, pixel-point eyeliner brush, brow brush

I love this post. I have one suggested challenge, if it hasn't already been done - make creative use of and/or multitask with a product. For example, in the past few days, I've done my eyebrows using one of the eye shadows from Naked Basics, and a Bobbi Brown Walnut eye liner pencil.
I've also used a few eye shadows as blushes, and not those wacky "these are really eye shadows but legally we have to call them blush" products.

I was just doing my makeup and feeling really lazy. I slapped on my Ambient lighting bronzer as eyeshadow and thought "Oooooh must reply to heyjude's post with 'use product in non-traditional way' suggestion." Then I see you beat me to it.
I love coming in these threads. It's like visiting a country where I don't speak the language other than "hello," "goodbye," and "where is the bathroom?"
Speaking of rouge? If you've had it, what have been your fave perks?
The free shipping is nice, but when I shop sephora I usually buy enough to qualify for free shipping anyway...
The makeovers are nice, although I've only done it a couple times. Once on my birthday, when I bought myself enough makeup to get me halfway to Rouge again
Occasionally there are some special promo codes, although I think this are always the same ones offered to everyone, just early. Sometimes you can use it twice, though - I did that this year, getting the same sample set twice using the Rouge code once and the regular VIB code the second time.
Overall the Rouge program is pretty lackluster. They keep talking about making it better, since people have been disappointed in it since the beginning, but I haven't seen anything really happen yet.

I love these ideas!
Maybe recreating specific looks? (from a blog or a celebrity look)
Also, I love discussing techniques because there's always more to learn about how to apply make up. Maybe challenges where you have to apply a product in a specific way -- like that powder under foundation trick, tight lining (which I still don't get), applying powder blush with your brush held at an angle away from your nose, using a specific brush to apply cream or gel blush, using either super light or super heavy foundation for a day, or really blending powder eye shadow. People could report on whether it's a different technique than they usually use and which they like better.
