Hi long lost friends... I have no idea why I have been so busy, since I seem to get nothing done, but wanted to check in and say hi. Is everyone warm? I am SO happy to report that I do not have to work tomorrow. Yay. Miss you all.
I think they were really concerned about kids waiting at the bus stops. The wind chill this morning was -5 to -10. My car thermometer said it was 1*F this morning. I felt like my face got frost bite on my 5 block walk into the building from the car.
I updated in my other post, no heat yet but hopefully soon! I admit I called the university weather line to see if we were cancelled/delayed.....no such luck
Thermometer outside my window said -10 when I left the house this morning. I don't want to think about what it would be with windchill. I think schools here had a 2 hour delay, but here we are 2 hours later and it's like -5. Not sure it made a difference.
Schools are open in my town as well. I have to go out for an appointment and to run a few errands so am not looking forward to the cold. Can't be too bad after the cold temps I experienced while living in VT.
My mothers helper is here today so not to worry the babies are staying home and warm!

Oh yay, you have some help! I was worried you were doing everything by yourself! Is this different than a nanny somehow?
Yeah, in the beginning I thought I'd be fine on my own but was talked into hiring some help by my mom and DH at week 4 after my mom left and DH was back at work so would be on my own. We hired her through care.com to come 3 days a week on the days that DH works his long hours at the restaurant. She previously nannied for a set of twins so is not fazed by dealing with 2 at a time. Half the time I am here and the other half I'm out running errands, going to appointments, etc. So I guess you could call her a nanny or mothers helper. Either way the help has been really nice as I think I would loose my mind being on my own with both of them on these long days. The plan is to still send them to daycare though when I go back to work later this month.
Whoa! I just was that on Boston.com. Think I can call in cold to work tomorrow?
Haha, I wish! It was -4.5 deg F in my town when I woke up this morning. Way too cold, although I've seen colder. Maybe back in 2011? When it was like 12 deg highs all of Jan? Brrr...
I'm just happy I got a parking spot not on the roof of the garage today. It *sucks* walking up there at night with the wind blowing.
Somerville schools are open. Thank god D does drop off. I didn't have to go out in the cold. He's agreed to do pick up as well
Haha, I kind of loved how the Somerville twitter last night was pretty much like "Um, we're having school tomorrow, bundle up and don't be a baby"
Haha, that's awesome! The one perk is definitely that it seems like fewer people are out and about. I went to Target after work on Tuesday and Market Basket last night. Both usually pretty mobbed on weeknights were dead. It was awesome.
-3 here this morning. All the FB moms were echoing the sentiment that kids shouldn't be so wimpy The solution here was that bus driver will pick up any kid they see walking, even if they aren't on their route, so they don't turn into popsicles.
I did drop off this morning. I pulled out the thickest wool possible. I look like I live in Iceland.

I HATE the garage situation. I work in building 43 and have been going to BSC before work so I have been able to get parking near my building mostly all week, though yesterday I was behind 60. Also the heat in building 43 is shoddy at best and its a brand new space. I have a blanket on right now!!
