I have been in retail in one form another for most of my life.
My first jobs were babysitting and a paper route (lol). I worked an both fast food and retail in High School In college I was a Test Procter for DSS.
I hired in at my current company for a part time "summer job" while I finished college/loved for something in my field. In that time, I met my H and got promoted 3 times, so it hasn't been all bad. I would like to get out of retail though, I fear that is point my degree is outdated and I would have to go back to school to do so.

I have done retail - everything from cashier, floor employee, customer service, and overnight stocker (including helping out in a commission-based jewelry counter, as a non-commission employee), Grocery store, CVS, and a bunch of retail stores.
I have done summer stock theater, and was an intern in scene shop at my college, as well at the Barnes of Wolf Trap (a local theater). I worked as a freelance stage manager in the DC area for two years, as a semi-professional (I refused to go into the Union). I spent a summer working at the concession stand of a great local outdoor theatre venue. I also worked for a bridal expo company doing show load ins and load outs. It was fun, but it essentially paid for my cost of travel and it was a shit ton of work, lol. (Oh to be 18 and not have responsibilities!)
I worked in a tire store for three years before I stated here. I know I am missing various theatre jobs, but these are the ones that come to mind.
I have had so many! 15- KMart - footwear department 16-19 Footlocker 16 - Bruegger's bagels for 2 weeks. I hated getting up early on weekends. 16 - Bakery for the summer 19 - Server at a local italian restaurant 19 - Disney internship. I worked in the All Star Sports Resort 19-21 - Applebee's, server (only job I ever got fired from!) They said I was not "Apple Ready"? WTF? 21-22- hostess supervisor at Kahunaville restaurant. There is only one left and it is in Vegas. Graduated college. 22 - Moved to MD and became an event coordinator at an inn. Think - lots of weddings to plan! 22 - the inn closed, so then I got a job with a gourmet food distributor. They folded also 22- bartended on the side at a sports bar. It was HUGE and used to get celebrities in all the time. It was mismanaged and closed in about a year or two. 23-25 managed a brewery restaurant with a team of 3 other managers. Moved back to NY after a breakup and worked as a bartender. Moved back to MD and got a job managing a private golf course. I was the events and restaurant manager. Toughest job I have ever had! I worked no less than 80 hours per week on salary that just did not make it worth it. Got a job at Edy's Ice Cream in their main hub. I was in charge of all of the coolers/freezers in all of the district. It was a neat job! Moved back to NY after ANOTHER breakup. Tended bar for 3 months, then got a job with the NYS dept. of health. Worked there for about 2 months as a "temp", then interviewed and was a permanent hire. Got appointed a promotion and worked there for another 16 months. Met Jerry and started working for him about 6 months later in his law office. I was full time for 6 years, then I opened my fitness studio. I work Mon- Weds in the office and manage my studio full time.

Babysat, worked at a Shaved Ice trailer, and as a cashier at Target when I was in high school.
Did temp-work in between school semesters in college (usually data entry type jobs) for various companies including insurance and a food distribution hub.
Was in the service industry for about 9 years - waiting tables, bartending, and doing liquor promotions.
Front-desk clerk for a temp-agency, which led me to a position with a credit card company where I had multiple roles over 4 years (call center rep, then dispute coordinator for initial review of transactions for potential fraud or card processing errors, then software support for the client reporting system).

Retail - cashier/apparel stocker for a gift store off our cruise ship port. Up to 11,000 cruise passengers came to our town somedays! In home care - went in and helped elderly with their daily care needs as well as their outside errands like shopping. Retail again - asst store manager at an electronics store Bail bonds - worked in the surety part so I dealt with the agents directly, not the criminals. Did do some bond runs to the court house/for the agents though. Dispatch and accounting - major construction company. I handled daily balancing and invoicing as well as scheduling trucks for delivery. Now - my job in the Benefits Dept.
ETA: I also worked part time with a autistic boy. Running through his therapy lessons, making him food and watching him throughout the day. Very interesting experience.
sitnspin I am DYING that you were not "Apple Ready". I'm sure it was a bummer at the time, but really? Oh my goodness.
I totally deserved to be canned. I was a terrible employee. I took too many smoke breaks, used to come in late, dirty uniform. I basically was in "party mode" and didn't give a shit. I did give my tables good service and was helpful to my coworkers. Yeah, WTF does that mean!!
My first job at age 12 was at my mom's friend's head shop. LOL
In high school I was hired to paint backdrops for a portrait photography studio, then they hired me on to the be the office manager.
In college I worked in the performing arts center, setting up and running the lights and sound equipment.
One summer during college I installed cable in Milwaukee and then did dispatch for cabs in Las Vegas. (I would advise against both of those.)
My first job out of college was for the MD Bar Association. It was my job to arrange hearings for lawyers who had complaints against them (sometimes this meant disbarring them).
Two years later I got the art school gig and I've been here ever since.

High school: worked at Dairy Queen and a small department store
College: university yearbook staff, summer job in lawyer's office, then I started working at the place where I met H (awe!). All in one, I was a soda jerk, ice cream girl, sandwich maker, merch-seller, and tour guide. I was also the weekend manager.
Post college: same company, but moved to full time in soda distribution where I did accounts receivable and entered customers' orders for delivery. Then those assholes got themselves in a lawsuit and my position was no longer needed. Thank goodness because...

Being a teacher has been my only "real grown-up job." I've been teaching at the same school since graduating college.
Past part-time jobs include: being a sales associate at Macy's, The Loft, and AE for various periods of time. I was a waitress at IHOP for a few years. And my first job (and where I met H) was working at a mini-putt/arcade place in my hometown.
Oh, and I had a VERY brief stint working at a factory for a week or so one summer. I had gone through an employment agency to hopefully get some kind of office work that year. They called me and said they had a job for me at a factory. So for the longest, most boring 5 days of my life, I wore safety goggles and put together parts for the Shop-Vac.
