Proposal/Engagement: I knew this was coming. We had gone ring shopping a few times. One afternoon, I was home alone (we were living together in his teeny tiny apartment at the time) the computer did this weird thing and asked for the network key for windows. I couldn't get a hold of H and so I started digging around in his drawers and closet looking for the CD. Well, lo and behold I found the ring box.
I freaked out, slammed the drawer shut, called my BFF and told her what I found. She started scolding me for snooping, even though I swear I wasn't! Then, she emails H at work and tells him what I told her. He moved the ring. Of course, I kept going back to look at the box (I never opened it), but he moved it so I thought I was going crazy.
A month later we were going to see a movie and have drinks. We went to the bar (The Whiskey Bar) where we first decided that we would start seeing each other to have drinks. Then as we were leaving I started walking really fast back to the car because it was the end of October and it was cold. H was trying to stall because he wanted to proposed where we first had our real kiss (2nd and Virginia), so he dropped his keys. He asked me to wait and I turned around and said something like "Hurry up, it's cold. I'll meet you at the car!" but then I realized he was on one knee and I stopped in my tracks. He asked me to marry him and that was that. It was super, super low key.
Wedding: Originally, H and I just wanted to go down to the courthouse and get married there. I had a cute short white dress picked out and everything. Once we told my parents they flipped out and said no.
We had a short engagement (6 months). We got married March 28, 2009 at Newcastle. We had over 200 people there. It was a long day and a lot of fun though.
Family: It's just me and H. I'm close to my parents and they live about a mile from us.
Tell us about how you got from courthouse wedding to 200 people! Was it mainly friends of you/H or your parents?
Btw I love your proposal story! Sometimes low key is really the best
The big reason hat we went from courthouse wedding to elaborate eparty and 200+ person wedding was my parents. I'm an only child, so my parents said that we "had" to have a wedding. H and I both come from big families, so family alone was about 100+ people. Then once you added in some of our parents friends and our friends we were looking at a guest list of close to 300. I think only like 220 showed that day though.
Thanks! I wouldn't have wanted our engagement to be any other way.
Will you please answer the standard questions you ask yourself? Do you want me to go track them down to cut and paste, or do you want to find them on your own?
Honeymoon? It was a total surprise. I didn't know where we were going till we got to SeaTac. H planned the most wonderful 2 week trip in Europe. We started in Amsterdam, went to Brussels and Brugge and then ended in Paris.

Favorite thing about the UW? I had a great group of friends there Anything you would change about the UW? Nope Are you a UW sports fan? If so, favorite UW athlete past or present? I watch Husky football and basketball, but I don't follow it. I would have to say my favorite athlete is H's SIL. She used to play softball for them and is in the hall of fame thing at the arena.
Hmm... I don't really follow celebs that closely, but I just watched a movie with Ryan Gosling last weekend. Hel-lo. I used to really heart Matt Lauer, until the Ann Curry scandal that is. I like pretty boys.
Did you know H before you started dating? yes, we had known of each other since about freshman year of college, but we didn't go to the same school, so we didn't actually hang out or talk
If so, how did you decide to officially start dating? We were kind of seeing each other and our friends were pestering us, so we decided to stop lying to ourselves and our friends and start dating for real. This was valentines day night and he gave me a funny card with a cartoon dragon on it. This wasn't till years later that I told him, but the next day, I knew that we would get married. I got so nervous because I had never felt this way about anybody, that I threw up!
How did you and H meet? His childhood friends became my college friends. One summer after freshman year, we were all over at our friend M's house watching a baseball game. I was dating someone else at the time, but I head some things about H going to WWU and I was curious, so I was going to ask him about it. However, (he claims this didn't happen, but I know it did) he spent the entire afternoon glaring at me. And from then on, and for the next 5ish years, I thought he was a jerk. I didn't talk to him, but would see him at random parties, till way after college.
What's the thing you most wish H did more/less/none of around the house? He's been doing so much more lately and without me asking. He makes me look like a slacker. I do wish he'd pick up his dirty clothes though. I wake him up after I get out of the shower and I always trip all over his jeans and stuff.
What's your least favorite household chore? cleaning, any of it
If you were given $5M tax free, what would you do with it? Buy our dream house and travel Who would you rather die first, you or H? H, I worry that if he's alone then he won't cook and then he won't eat or eat crap food like before we started dating Death row meal? Bottle of wine from Jordan Vineyards, Med rare steak, lobster, trophy cupcakes Ever been arrested? Bonus points if you tell us why. Nope Who's more outgoing, you or H? Funnier? H tries harder, but I can be outgoing if I need to. H is funnier. Last time you cried? What was it over? I can't remember Who's going to win the healthy challenge? Take 2nd? it's all so close, but maybe Mgoss? I like to think that I can still squeek in to second Dream car? black Porche Panamera Between a full time chef, stylist, driver, nanny, personal trainer, masseuse or errand runner (who only did those jobs) which one (you only get 1!) would you pick and why? stylist bc I assume that person brings clothes too? When will you start TTGKTFU? never How many kid(s) do you want? 0 Least favorite vacation spot? Costa Rica, I wasn't really wowed. If money were no object and it were feasible, would you go to the moon? hells yes Obama, Romney or are you leaving for Canada? Obama Realistic job you would be really good at? project manager Realistic job you would be really bad at? anything dealing with bodily fluids
Okay, I have to know ... what does durian taste like? Is there any way to prepare durian so that it tastes okay? I have a friend who actually says he likes it.
Realistic job you would be really bad at? anything dealing with bodily fluids
My coworkers are staring at me for laughing out loud.
This Q wasn't on the list when I did AMA, but it would have been "anything dealing with needles". I know we have some nurses on the board and I am so impressed at people who do that all day!

I think it tastes like old socks.
H says it tastes like sweet garlic and onions.
The smell is even worse.
Either way, no bueno.
My parents claim that if you eat it frozen it doesn't smell and it's like a custard. I think they're lying to me.
How many pairs of shoes do you have? How many of those are high-end (LB, Manolo, etc)? Average price range of shoes you buy? How/when did you fall in love with shoes? What shoes are you currently coveting the most that you don't own?
How many pairs of shoes do you have? Probably 40ish? How many of those are high-end (LB, Manolo, etc)? Most Average price range of shoes you buy? Anywhere between $500-800 How/when did you fall in love with shoes? I've always loved shoes, for as long as I can remember. I even remember being a small child and begging my mom for red glitter mary janes and she said no year after year because they weren't practical. I worked at a shoe store in college and around senior year of college/1st year of graduation I had over 100 pairs of shoes, but none of them high end designer. What shoes are you currently coveting the most that you don't own? I'm trying to find 2 things right now. The perfect Mary jane or T strap shoe and the perfect nude pump. I've found the perfect nude pump, but my size is always sold out. :-(
Did you ever find a cute dress form or manekin for your closet room to display clothes you own/love but don't have occasion to wear often? I got a dress form for like $40 off of ebay, but it's just holding belts. The measurements are crazy small, so it couldn't wear anything if it tried.
