15 pages of you taking everyone down with you. We had absolutely no good political discussion today. And for that, you can all go shit in your hats.
+1
I'm sorry but those 15 pages are way more informative than anything in the thread about Mitten's IRA. You don't know what you are missing. I don't want to spoil it, but we learn all about turbans and German guilt. My mind has been blown.
I didn't overlook them. I know my personality is abrasive. I also know what it's like to dig in and not listen for 15 pages. I told you at the beginning of your thread to walk away. And here we are.
So if you know that many people are put off by you, then why do you act like the mean girl thing is just made up and has no basis in fact?

Considering how many people didn't realize that a Sikh is easily identifiable by his appearance, it did seem that a lesson in turbans in the US was in order.
LOL Kore - I was reminded today of why I mainly post on MM
Uh....
As a MM regular and someone who has "known" you for quite some time, I had to check the post counts to make sure this wasn't a troll. That's how nuts you sounded today.
FTR, I had no problem with what you said to the attendant. But your follow-ups showed you to be stubborn, condescending, holier-than-thou (which was ironic given the shit you tossed out about this board on page 1) and unable to listen to alternate points of view.
And the fact that you can't seem to see **any** of that is all the more shocking.
I hope you had a bad day or something because this is not a good look for you.
I was going to type something about extended unkind behavior from you in the past and therefore your shock at one day of disagreements being kind of funny, but I will just leave it at that because I like you too much.
I also think it is clear that CEP brings out the worst in me due to my preconceived opinions of how many posters here treat people they disagree with (and I normally share the underlying majority opinion). That is why I came out swinging way harder than I normally would.

If you think CEP is so full of mean bullies, do you ever stand up for the underdog?
I am kind of guffawing that I just now had a chance to read all of this because I was in a meeting almost all day. A meeting led by a Sikh. Who has blond hair and blue eyes. I kid you not.

Sometimes, but it something I should definitely do more when I feel like mere disagreement has turned into something worse.

again, get in the martyr line. Conservatives have long held it and we ain't budging!

Ok? And how does that make Sikhs any less identifiable assuming they are wearing the traditional turban and keeping their hair uncut?

lol not looking to be a martyr, your claim is safe
LOLing at someone in the majority feeling like someone in the minority.
Where would you like me to send your team t-shirt? Or was this a one-time type of thing?
Pssst. We have a handbook too.
Huh? I said that I normally hold the underlying opinion of the majority (because of my political leanings) but that doesn't make me unable to see when mere disagreement crosses the line to mean spirited.

You're still going at this in three different threads. You need to back away. Like you very long-windedly said you were going to do in your OP in this post.

Um because this particular woman covers her hair in a way that could be either a fashion choice or a religious statement (it's rarely more than 20% covered--she basically wears a thickish headband) and never wears her hair down, so I have no idea how long it is.
I just think it's funny. In the same way that I think it's hilarious that people often assume one of my East African Muslim friends is a Jamaican rasta because of his hat preferences.
Ok, well throughout my posts I clearly was referring to Sikh men, not women. And as you no doubt are fully aware of, the Sikh turban is not a fashion choice. And yes, I am also aware there are some Sikh men who cut their hair to avoid dealing with the discrimination, however when the men do wear the turban they are easily identifiable as Shikhs.
