I didn't for years but I should have--my DD2 was seriously constipated & I had no idea until it was really, really bad & done damage. What she went through I won't torture anyone with but it was horrible. She was 4 & certainly no baby but was terrible at explaining her pain so the Docs & I didn't catch the real issue for a long time. Now I do monitor DD2 & DD3s poops because I need to catch issues early.

I sure do. I BF, diaper output is important since you can't really measure how much he's eating. We use the Total Baby app to track everything. (pee, poo, eating, sleeping, meds, doctor visits, shots, etc.)
It's nice to be able to look back & see trends. It's also easy to see when he's having a growth spurt or why he might be fussy. (tired, hungry, etc)

I do for my oldest (6). He has encopresis and is under the care of a GI specialist and a developmental psychologist, and it's part of our treatment plan. It all gets written on a big chart that I taped to the fridge. We talk about poop a lot in our house, lol.
Otherwise, I'd never have thought to do it under normal circumstances unless they were really sick or something.
