H mentioned that he wanted to get down to Florida to work on the boat in April, score I have been wanting to see Jimmy Buffet and he has three concert dates in April. We will be down for a minimum of a week.
The boat is in Fort Myers, so we would either fly home or into RSW. I am leaning towards Tampa for the concert, because I love being on the water and the sunsets are so beautiful on the gulf coast. I looked up tickets at all three venues for the concert and Tampa and West Palm seem to be smaller venues than Orlando. Tickets at Tampa are almost sold out, and the lowest priced ones are in the nose bleed back section. Orlando and West Palm still have some good seats left that aren't too expensive.
Feedback on the venues? Here is a link to the concert venues. And also where to stay/eat in Tampa or West Palm?

I've been to concerts in both Orlando, and the Tampa Amphitheater. I love the amphitheater, and April would be a good time to go because it won't be too hot. Tampa would also be a much smaller venue, so even if you're in the back, it will still be good. We stay over in the area off I-4 and I-75. It's just a few miles down from the venue. I'll look up the names and post again, after I get out of my meeting.

In Tampa we stay in the Sabal Palm area. We always use Priceline, and have always stayed at the Residence Inn or the Courtyard Marriott. I don't think we ever paid more than $80, and they're really close to the amphitheater. When we go to the Orlando Arena we stay at the Crown Plaza at I-4 & SR. 50. Hope that helps!
Opted for Tampa tickets to Buffet, will stay in Tampa near the venue for one night. Will look for hotels near the venue. Then headed down to Ft Myers to work **cough, cough** **work, couch** on the boat.
Tampa will be great in April. I've never had bad seats anywhere at the Amp and actually prefer the lawn usually. I will second caddywompus about those hotels; pretty close and very reasonable. There are a couple available across the street from the fairgrounds as well as the Hard Rock if you aren't feeling (read: can't) drive.

Yeayy- Glad I could help! Have fun! If you do Priceline- Do the name your own price thing, and pick Tampa Fairground area, 3 1/2 stars, and start your bidding at ~$50. That's what we always do, and have never paid more than $80.
I live in tampa and love the amphitheater. The whole lawn is open seating, so you really can't be in the back. It's a great venue. The only decent hotel right by there is the Hard Rock. If you don't mind a 15 minute taxi ride or drive there are tons of hotels downtown.
