I really think this place gives a very skewed view of, like, everything. Fwiw, I have never come across a child with that name. DH & I have hypothetical names we love for girls, and two of them popped up a lot in that thread, but I don't know a single child with the names. It's your child. You have to love the name. Sure, it would be nice if there weren't 4 other kids in her class with that name, but I think we over think it.
My name is a pretty common 80s baby name, but in reality, I only came across a handful when I was in school & only one was in my class. I hardly ever meet anyone as an adult.
We love the name, and are not going to make any changes. I just was reading another name thread when it popped up and got a lot of attention, and I'm thinking to myself that I sound like a total ML name hoarder (&, I guess I sound a little creepy lurkerish, too).
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I concur with all of the above. I think your name for DD2 is unique and pretty. I find it surprising that it's that popular; guess I will have to read some ML to see what's what.
You DD1 has a lovely name too. Just random curiosity, but do you say the "e" at the end, or is it silent? I have a cousin E-l-e who is Ell-ie, so I never can guess.
clseale & thom - you're right, not at all popular as far as the name polls go, but suddenly really popular in all of the baby name threads on the board. I think I'm just feeling sensitive to that because my DD has the same name as a popular poster, kwim? And, it's seems like sort of a sudden favorite, though I guess I'm only recently paying close attention to the baby name threads.
This is what late pregnancy does, I guess. Makes you crazy.
And Thom - pronounced like the letter L (like Elle McPherson or Elle magazine), though we call her Ellie as a nickname sometimes.
I love it! DD2's name is very popular on these boards (Lucy), but IRL I don't see it too much. Well, except for books, TV shows, movies, dog names. I don't care though, it's hard to come up with names!
I love it! My baby name also got super popular without my permission. Her name will be Pi.per. In my defense, I've loved it since 2003 when that was the name of my sister's college roommate. SO THERE.
kams, I have one friend who has the same name & nn as DD1. She's almost 5. I've seen the nn a lot, but not much of the actual name.
There is a poster in the ml thread who said Jaxton. What? No. I think some people are just throwing names out there that they have heard of and find odd. I refuse to believe that someone knows multiple JaxTons. Like, not one or two, but OMG, every announcement I see has the name Jaxton.
Of course it's easy for all of us to be breezy and rational. When reading that thread just now, I reminded myself to avoid those conversations if we have a baby. It won't matter anyway, I'm convinced if we ever have a baby , it will be a boy, since we have 5-6 solid girl names & absolutely hate any boy names the other likes.

I don't know any Pipers! GBCN popular, not real life popular. /gavel

I know one IRL and she's the daughter of a friend that I would want to name my kid after. So good choice!

LOVE it.
I know what you mean about it gaining popularity thanks to the show, but I still think it is perfect because it is not common IRL, & ages beautifully. People will forget the connection before long, anyhow (if they even make it now).
I think we are going with the same MN, though I like it better with your name than my DD2s! But, it would be 4th gen and I feel a little guilty for not using it last time, though it was just too short to work for my DD1.
Thank you!! The sibset deal feels like an extra challenge! I really love the two together though, thankfully . Now, if we have a #3 one day, I will have to decide if I'm taking the plunge with another LL name

That's been my argument. People will forget the show. It just annoys me that it will gain some popularity because of it, and the character on the show is kind of a despicable character!

I love them both! DD's name started getting more popular (with an Americanized spelling) after she was born, and I felt oddly defensive about it. The real world isn't the nest, thankfully. You're good
I think that's a beautiful name. Stick with what you love. I have such a common name and I remember one year there were 4 other girls in my grade with the same name, bur I survived it!
