I like this title change!I had a competition last weekend, but I wouldn't have posted in it the racing thread because it's not a race. Next time I've got one coming up I'll post to bore you all with the details of the WODs and my nerves about each specific part
jamalynn how far are you running? ghostmonkey what's your comp? I haven't been reading as much as usual this week, so I've missed what you guys have coming up.
No big plans here. H is still out of town*, so I may go to CF tomorrow morning but otherwise I have literally nothing scheduled.
*He's at the World Handball Championships in Qatar, and the amount of money the Qataris are spending on this thing is INSANE. Obviously they want to make it look good to improve public perception of the World Cup and help their Olympic bid, but dude. Handball is not a big sport there at all, it's really only big in some European countries where it's still second to soccer for the most part. Despite this fact, guess who played a concert after last night's game (which wasn't the inauguration or closing ceremony or anything). PHARRELL. That can't have come cheap.
Saturday am long run planned but the snow conditions will determine what we accomplish, hoping for 8 miles. Saturday day my daughter has first reconciliation which will be interesting. Saturday night we are celebrating my 40th b-day with a party bus full of friends headed out for a night on the town!
We will be mostly hanging around the house. DH is in lots of pain from his accident He was rear ended at about 40mph and hit a big semi truck and another car. I think he might be out for the MB 1/2 next month. His foot/shin got messed up (from hitting the brake so hard), but mostly it is neck and shoulder pain. DS's Box car derby race got cancelled, so now all we have is a wrestling meet on Sunday. DS is strong, but not aggressive at all. Should be interesting.

Thanks! I have a powerlifting meet this weekend. I have lost my damn mind and decided to do it equipped (with supportive suits and knee wraps). My opening attempts only leave me 40 lbs short of the total I want, so I should be able to hit that as well.

No race for me. Good luck to everyone racing and competing this weekend!!
Hopefully going to get another 2 miles in tonight on the treadmill. Tomorrow hopefully I can get a speed workout done in the morning at the gym and then do some errands. Sunday morning long run with another running club, either 6.2 or 8 miles depending on how I feel.

cinco I'm glad he's mostly ok, but I hope he heals quickly!
ghostmonkey, I understand the equipment involved, but why does that equate to you losing your mind? All I can think is that there are different categories depending on if you're using gear or not, and by going equipped it's almost like going up a weight class in terms of competition being tougher? But I made that up, so it could be totally wrong.

I want to hear all about it, ghostmonkey ! Husband is thinking of entering his first competition, and I'm thinking of switching gears after this marathon season.
I have a long run tomorrow (supposed to be 17 miles, but I'm seriously considering backing down to a shorter mileage plan), but I also have two sick kids. Husband is going out with a friend for the day. Shoot me now.
Good luck everyone! It's supposed to rain here tomorrow through the morning, so I'm sure I'll be stuck on the trainer. Sunday I hope to meet some teammates for a ride. I have a bunch of stuff to get caught up on around the house. Nothing exciting.
No racing for me, but I'm excited about my trail group and our "project" to complete the entire distance of a local trail system over the next couple of months (we run on Sundays). This week's leg goes right by my house.
Plan-wise, pizza, movie and wine by the fireplace tonight at home. Cannot wait. Tomorrow we're going on a tasting and tour of a local distillery, and on Sunday we're going to hear an author I like speak, followed by a local wine tasting. Geez- it's a boozy weekend for me I guess, haha.
Fun run half through Celebration, FL. I get to see the lovely al320. I have a few different things working against me right now, so I think this one might hurt a bit. I just want it to be fun. They have a fun finish line party w/mimosas! Plus, as my friend pointed out, it's my BQ-iversary! LOL I think I'll enjoy it a bit more this time, when I only have to run around the course once.
cinco I'm glad he's mostly ok, but I hope he heals quickly!

Going equipped means I an squeezing myself into a suit made of material that doesn't give that hurts and takes time to put on. Mine is absurdly quick at 5 minutes by myself, but it's also too big. The one I will break in for nationals will likely take me around 20 minutes with help to get into. I struggle with deadlift- I have to pull myself down to the bar because of the suit. And they leave pretty marks everywhere. Rawr.
And with a suit on I have to go much heavier. Raw my opening squat is around 315. With my suit I am pushing it opening at 408. I literally cannot get deep enough with less weight because of the suit. Most people have switched away from suits and wraps because it's a PITA.
I thought I had no plans until reading emilyinchile's post. It reminded me that I need to go to the CF gym tomorrow in order to get more info on what I'll be doing at the next comp. It's at our box and I'm one of the judges. They trust me with that?!

I have nothing to say except Holy Shit. What's your deadlift max? Just curious. You're a badass.
Tomorrow I'm playing soccer in the afternoon, then having dinner and watching West Wing with some girlfriends. Sunday, playing more soccer in the afternoon
Should be a nice low-key weekend. I'm hoping the weather holds out and it doesn't rain at Saturday's game. Sunday should be in the mid-40's, so I'm pumped about that!

So i just ran a not so easy 4 miles on this beautiful 74 degree day in sunny florida. This northerner isnt used to sun!! It felt glorious and sucked at the same time lol
So this race will be hilarious, also adding that im still very congested.

I"m headed up to SF for a whirlwind trip to see family. My sister flew out to visit my brother, and, as much as I will enjoy seeing her, I am DREADING spending 8 hours in the car between Sat/Sun, especially because I have to do it again in 2 weeks.
But if any bay area people want to grab dinner Sunday night...
My plans got completely turned around. While it looks like the puking may be done, we now have a viral rash that's looks horrible. Looks like a weekend inside. It's supposed to snow anyway.
We will be mostly hanging around the house. DH is in lots of pain from his accident He was rear ended at about 40mph and hit a big semi truck and another car. Your family seriously needs a break. It's been in thing after another!
cinco I'm glad he isn't seriously injured! I hope he starts feeling better soon.
Good luck racers!
It's going to snow tomorrow so I am going to do my c25k inside on the treadmill. DH has mandatory OT tomorrow night so I will be watching chick flicks and maybe cheat and have a glass of wine or 2. Sunday we are going to be lazy. I am planning a incline workout then don't plan to move from the couch.
I'm planning a long run tomorrow but in a tight timeline, so I may go before the group starts, then circle back to them for company. Then we're looking at a house and having our realtor check out our place. I'm getting so excited at the prospect of buying a bigger house with a pool! The one tomorrow is walking distance to these great trails around our lake.
Sunday, I'm meeting up for a shorter group run on the new meetup I'm trying to help get established, then meeting my BFF so he can help me learn how to use gym machines for NROLFW.
