This has not been a MM week. My prospective Ph.D. student is visiting, and so I've been eating out more and paying for everything, since my students are all poor and have families. But I really like the way my lab group is turning out-- it's so much fun to work with people who are so excited about what we do and work so hard. I feel really lucky.
Today I need to do some cleaning and laundry before I head to the lab. I'm so glad to be home after traveling that I'm looking forward to it.

Nothing too exciting.
We're signing our new lease today. I'm going to try and rein in my attitude when I go. Just a lot of missteps on their part, that they tried to say was us. Um, no.
I made a delicious milk steamer this morning, with milk, dates, cinnamon and almond extract. So tasty.

I kind of want this rain coat for my dog.
If I thought my doxie would wear that raincoat for more than 5 seconds, I would buy it in a heartbeat (she hates the rain). But I am an asshole, so I would also laugh hysterically every time I saw her in it.

He'll definitely wear a raincoat, but I don't know how he'd feel about the umbrella part. At least the umbrella part is detachable. DH might look at me like I was crazy though, if I bought it.

Eh. That's how I feel about today so far. I probably should go into work (not that I particularly want to, but it would be a good idea). It's slushy outside.
The nursing home is moving my grandmother into a smaller room on Monday. If the weather was better I would consider moving some of her excess furniture to my house today (which will likely require a rental van and my neighbor's help). Of course, if I did it today they'd probably find out their estimate was off about what would fit and I'd have to do it again, so there might be another benefit to procrastination.
I made coats for my dogs. I wanted more coverage for them and just couldn't find one that covered most of their body so I made them. I suck at sewing but it serves it's purpose lol. The shell is waterproof and lined with 2 layers of fleece to keep them warm. Hilo loves it since he's cold natured, Kona's meh about it. I got them booties too, but they haven't gotten to wear them yet this year.

One of my cats (the ragdoll) keeps escaping when we walk in the front door. We live in an apartment, so he doesn't get far when this happens. He just walks around the hallway crying. I am thinking about getting him a cat leash. I know that as soon as he gets outside, he will turn into a big baby because his paws got wet or dirty. He's a major priss.
DD is at a friends house, and as soon as she gets home, she's going with my mom to spend the night. I should use the time to work on homework, but honestly, I may just sleep. I've been exhausted lately. I do need to clean the crap out of my car, because I'm dropping it off Friday for the remote start. I'd be so embarrassed to have anyone see the inside right now. There are pop bottles and junk mail flyers everywhere.
I swear if I hear the words "Deflated Balls" one more time on the news this week, I am going to bust something. Surely, there are more important stories to report FFS.
We are headed to our college town for my BFF's daughter's birthday. I'm excited to eat at our old favorite restaurant and to see how the campus and town have changed.
Nothing exciting here. I went to barre class this morning. At some point, we'll leave to go grocery shopping. Dinner tonight is probably going to be at a ramen restaurant I'm excited to try. Sort of MM, but those barre classes are so pricy!
Last night my FIL took us to his club for a wine dinner. It was really nice. 5 wines, 5 courses of food. Today we did some errands and I found a dress to wear to my H company's award dinner in March. Tonight I am going to a 'painting and wine' place with my friends.
I've been organizing my kitchen and it's better than ever thanks to the organizing thread. I'm also trying to up my post count because I'm >this close< to the next level
I was painting today in the basement while H finished some plumbing in the shower! The paint is just a primer coat over our just sanded drywall but I am insanely excited to be painting this weekend. Progress!!!
We still have so much left to do, but.. We have also come such a long way from the unfinished space we had before!

are you comfortable sharing pictures of your progress so far?
kathybela, YES! I have been meaning to--I will try to post tomorrow, they are all on my camera & I need to upload and share with family and friends, and that includes the MM crew, too!!
I remember you recommended getting a drawer dishwasher when I was thinking about cabinet / appliance layout, and you will be pleased to hear I am absolutely going to be ordering one of those
I can't believe how far we've come, but realistically I know we still have a few months in front of us. DIY is a lengthy effort!
Relaxing now while H gets ready for date night - enjoying a well earned wine
I'm finally on the downhill slope of a really busy week. I initially typed that as "awful," but realized that was untrue. It was a very full, 60+hour week, but it was full of really great meetings and presentations and stuff. The board I work with had a really productive annual planning meeting this morning. Then I came home and spend naptime working on a staff report. I'm writing the stuff that I'm really interested in, so it's pretty kotivatingn. And! Through diligent research i connected the dots on a property's history, fun stuff!
The best part of the week was meeting to plan the my status annual historical society conference, which will be held in my town on September! I've been looking forward to planning this party since forever. More even than planning my wedding!

I just got hammered at a beer festival. DH and I are trying to sober up drinking coffee at Panera right now before going to a party at my boss's house.

I've been at work for over 11 hours already today. I don't think my date last night liked me. Oh Well. I'm taking a coworker out for celebratory drinks for a recent accomplishment of hers in about an hour.

Bell's two hearted is still my favorite beer.
I'm not a big IPA fan (don't hate me), but Oberon is my favorite summer beer.
explorer2001, sorry your date sucked, but I hope you have a great time out at drinks!
I'm afraid to add up how much I spent at Arbys last year. I just ate year old skittles and then googled what would happen to me - nothing of course but why didn't I Google before I ate them?
I am not a fan of interpretative dance and modern art, but I really enjoyed the mime that Sia had on SNL last week.
I think my orange cat gets cabin fever and would like a playmate. The grey one barely plays with him and mostly doesn't want him around.
In the mid thirties and my first wisdom tooth finally broke through.

I have not been MM this weekend but the majority was needed. I needed a pair of new hiking shoes since my dog slowly chewed a hole through them (took a year). The pair before those lasted a week.... I also needed to get the flea meds for my dog. We spent 6 months fighting fleas on her. We tried Frontline, flea sprays, flea baths and nothing. The only thing that works is the flea and heartworm pill Trifexis.

We just got back from the Dominican Republic. It was an awesome trip but we were delayed in Miami through customs and neither of our bags made it on the flight home. So now we have to wait until 11pm tonight to see if they arrive. This could wind up being a very un-MM trip if we have to replace everything in those bags. DH is livid, but I keep telling him this is just part of travel. He doesn't get it.
I worked three days at my new job, then took 7 days off, and am now hoping for a snow day on Monday and/or Tuesday. That's bad of me, right? (Job seems fantastic, but a day or two at home is fantastic-er).

DH and I just flew back through Miami from an international destination a few weeks ago... Customs was insane! They actually started holding people in the hallway at the top of the escalator BEFORE the baggage claim because there were so many people blocking the baggage area that there wasn't room to get off the escalator. Longest lines I've ever seen at an airport. I hope your bags show up soon.

I was wondering where you were! Hope you had a great time and hope your luggage gets resolved.
I am am visiting my siblings (my sister flew out to ca and is staying with my brother). it's been surprisingly nice experience. Except for the political discussions.
