Ok I realize people love their guns and we can't touch that blah blah blah. BUT at what point can we at the very least demand they are more responsible with them? How is drunk driving illegal and accidentally injuring or killing someone with your irresponsible gun handling untouchable?

Well I'm sure if you ask his family he is a VERY responsible gun owner.

I don't know. They absolutely should be. We're not talking about when someone is actually threatened and the real bad guy gets hurt. Personally I think carrying it around not properly locked and secured should be like an open container law at the least.

he's been charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
My mom can see this giant eagle from her house. She literally lives across the street. She called me today to tell me about it. What a complete idiot. He makes all the people who are responsible gun owners/concealed carriers a bad name.
Why is it these stories scare me 100 times more than the crazy guy who may come in the store and start shooting up the place. Because all of the yahoos I know who carry in public will use that excuse. "You just never know if there's a psycho who will start shooting." Yeah because that happens so often.
These stories seem way more common. And WTF with the "accidental discharge"? excuse all the time? I thought guns don't kill people, people kill people. If that gun had killed someone, would THAT then be an example of guns killing people?
And I agree, that better not ever happen around me. I'll be suing the shit out of the gun owner if nothing else for trauma that gun went off around me. And I'm not a sue happy person at all, but let it be something gun related and I'll be going all the way.
Way too close to home. Time to have a chat with my local elected officials. Yet another reason to avoid giant eagle.
Giant Eagle's statement says that they were pleased the injured parties were able to complete their shopping. Yep, that's the important part of this story!
