When we brought my Mom home to die, her dog Jasper went into the room where she was and just laid under the hospital bed for hours. Anytime anyone would let him in the room that's where he'd be. The night she died he was curled up on the couch with his head facing down the hall to my bedroom where she was. About 11:30 he turned his head that way, got up and walked upstairs to my parents room. My Dad came out of my room about a half hour later and said she had died about 11:30 and that's when we put the two and two together. He was guarding her until she was gone and then decided it was okay for him to go to bed.

When my dad was actively dying, his dog refused to leave his side. She wouldn't eat and we basically had to carry her outside so she could relieve herself. It was sad. When he died, she nudged his hand to get him to pet her. I picked his hand up and pet her head for her. And after the funeral home left with him, his dog was so sad. And she sat where he passed away the entire night. It broke my heart.

I also think my dog knew she was dying. DS was only 9 weeks old and she never came into his room. I was in there with him and she followed me upstairs, came in and nudged between me and DS and sank to the floor. she had a perfectly fine vet visit the week before.
Ethel knew when I was pregnant. She was on top of my belly 24/7. She growled at anyone who reached for or across my stomach, and she visibly relaxed when ds would kick her when she was using my belly as a pillow.
She was insanely protective of ds when he was an infant as well.
She gave no fucks about my pregnancy with G, or G as an infant. Lol
We were at my brother's house out in the country. His dog was fantastic at fetch, and catching the frisbee before it ever even hit the ground.
I was outside alone with her throwing the frisbee for her. She caught it every time before it hit the ground. I get cluster headaches and they come from nowhere to instant agony.
I had thrown the frisbee and it was flying when a headache suddenly came over me. It wasn't even 2 seconds before my brother's dog was at my side, the frisbee still flying. She had turned and headed back toward me BEFORE THE HEADACHE STARTED.
She just sat there next to me as I held my head and then headed for wherever my purse was.
I bawled like a baby when that dog died after her good, long life. She was incredible. (heart)
