I know, I know, the usual answer is hell yes! but here we go.

I am currently TTC, and going through testing. I am also in the middle of a huge work project that I'm the PM for, and I couldn't in good conscience do IF treatments that would net me an EDD before the first of the year, although I am still TTC on my own for now.

I would love to do a full marathon, but didn't sign up for one last year because we were ttc. I am not looking to light the world on fire with attempt number 1, but to just finish and check it off, so I can really know what I'm getting into the next time. Obviously, avoiding injury is a huge concern. I run usually 3-4 miles, 3 times a week during the week, and a long run of 10-14 on the weekend.

So, all that background leads me to my question. If I do have to get treatment and can't start until May anyway, would you approve (Suze Orman style) me signing up for a marathon on 5/2? I'd basically start a HH Novice 1 plan halfway through, but I pretty much have already been running as much as the plan calls for up to now.

You can't live your life assuming TTC will go as planned. I signed up for 2 marathons last year even though we were doing IF treatments still. Obviously plan A is always get pregnant. But I knew our track record for that sucked and I would be so upset if I missed out on those races because I wasn't pregnant and didn't sign up in time. I figured if I signed up but got pregnant, I wouldnt give a damn abotu the race fee anymore if I didn't race.

As fate would have it, our treatments didn't work. I ran both races and I'm so glad I had someone tell me to sign up for them anyways. I live my life without letting our IF treatments completely ruin/run my fun. Otherwise I'd miss out on so much.

I totally get that, G22. I was figuring this would be a good way to get my mind off the forced delay, if it works out that way.

I just printed off the HH calendar, and I would only be cutting off 4 weeks.

However, it only goes to 20 miles, and that's the weekend I'm tentatively scheduled to do Ragnar with my sister. I can easily sign up for the 22 mile runner spot, but I suppose I should also plan to do a solid 20 (at least) run on another week, since that's broken up.

I say go for it too, as long as you think training will be enjoyable and not stress you out too much with being busy at work.

I would say aim for a 20 mile maybe 2-4 weeks before the Ragnar. Maybe in place of an 18 or 19?

Good point! I have been running more lately as a stress reliever.

I'll see what the schedule has on tap and move it up.

If any of my friends could do this, you could! You are amazing and I have so much confidence in your ability to KILL a marathon!

I also think focusing some of your attention on the training and the end goal might help relieve some of the pressure and stress of TTC? At least, having something like that has helped me (not marathon training, but the WLC...totally different, I know!)
