Sorry! I think I posted as you posted your update.
If you have a newborn do NOT go to the shower. That's just crazy talk. Skype/Facetime yourself and the baby in. The hosts or grandmothers can take turn opening gifts for you.
I went into preterm labor and was admitted around 26 or 27 weeks. Placed on anti-contraction meds until 36 weeks? Went into labor again while I happened to be in the hospital for an NST anyway. (Bedrest at home with office privileges if I stayed reclined.) Given steroid shots for the baby's lungs. Thrown back on meds until 38 weeks and went back into labor practically right when meds were stopped.

They are saying they would postpone it to do it during my maternity leave.
So I would be all post-partumy and in the middle of figuring out having a newborn and I'm already stressed about only having 6-7 weeks to get time with her before going back to work.
Ugh, I feel like I'm being ungrateful but it's just not at all what I expected things to be.
I would push back a bit on this. Who is the most important person in attendance at this shower? It's you. It sucks if Grandma can't make it, but this is really about you.
I'm kind of mad at myself for not pushing back on my 38 week baby shower. It was also scheduled so late to accomodate the travel schedules of other people and it stressed me out.
