Checking in from RI! I had a half day because DS was sick, but work is letting out early, so it looks like I won't have to use as much PTO as anticipated. Work and daycare are closed tomorrow already.
DH is working and was told he'll be held over tomorrow too, so it's just me and the boy for the long haul. Hoping we don't lose power, we've been lucky in the past.

I have tried to get out of Manhattan for the last hour. I am now onto Operation Get to Somewhere, Anywhere on Staten Island and then Figure Shit Out From There.
I made it home but my mom is stuck here for the duration. My dad, who is home in Middlesex county (just south west of Staten Island), said it's getting bad there and for my mom not to risk trying to cut across the state.

Fuck. My friend just posted that he is on the ferry freaking out because of the wind. Be safe!

Thanks! I was about to take the ferry but had concerns about that and then finally I got on my usual bus. I guess I'm glad I got lazy and just waited around for a bus?
Steady light snow south of Boston. DD is home from school and napping. Car is fueled, beer is procured. DH just texted that he's on his way home. Laundry is done, I'm going to knit and listen to the news now ?

If you get stuck, I have a spare bedroom. Stay safe, but it's here if you need it!
We weren't supposed to get snowmaggdon here but did? Just our town and one over though, literally just two small cities…changedname can attest to how messed up it was today…no forewarning, nothing, just random, unexpected lake effect snow. Woke up this morning to reports that we were going to get 10 - 20 cm (so 4 - 8 inches)….it took some of my teachers 2 hours to get to work. Just so unexpected.

Thanks so much! My bus is moving at a snail's pace through Jersey right now so if it gets stuck here I will just spend the night at IKEA.

Nope. And actually, where you are isn't that bad as where I am and I am barely that much more South than you. And our house isn't as bad as my school, which is even further South…honestly, the closer you are to the lake the worse it gets.

DH's company is having a global leadership conference tomorrow. Only four people from the NYC office are part of it: one has a weekday apt in NYC walking distance to the office, one flew in from London yesterday and can walk from the hotel, the CEO who drives with a four wheel drive vehicle and DH. His boss, CEO, has said no matter what he's going in, so the pressure using for DH to get in. Ggggrrr, at least it was postponed from 8:00 to 10:00 am.
I was so looking forward to him being at home, although working. I know he will do everything to get in, especially because it looks like NNJ will not be hit as hard as expected.
