I'm really sorry. I hope you can deal with this however you think is best - talk to the management, talk to this guy, burn the gym to the ground, whatever! - and that you can get back to focusing on the important part, which is that you are proud of how heavy you went!
I'm sorry that happened to you... I would have wanted to hide under a rock and die. I hate when people go out of their way to make women feel uncomfortable in the weight room. It would be really easy for me to say "you should complain to management, you should give them a snarky comeback next time" etc, but it is just so. so. hard. Keep your chin up, know that we all think you are amazing, and keep on keeping on.
Please don't let them stop you from going back. Not all trainers are good, period. The 1 trainer at my work gym told me I should not bench press with a barbell because I might get hurt. My actual trainer, who is an elite trainer, just laughed. I do 60#s (which is nothing close to what it should be) all the time (okay during the few times I have worked out recently).

Thank you guys. Seriously. Thank you so much. I thought maybe I was being wacakdoodle emotional and hormonal and all "girlie" in my reaction. I'm glad to know that it's on him, not on me.
I was squatting 115. My second time, btw, to do that weight at 5 x 5. Actually, what I can't wait to do is get in front of him and do an unassisted pullup. I think I've got about six more weeks before I can do that. Just because I'm middle aged and overweight doesn't mean I can't be strong.
Please don't feel humiliated. That's so awesome and the trainers were in the wrong for how they approached the situation. Shake it off and feel proud of your accomplishment!
